I painted mine black. It's a great contrast with the new spokes.

Wanted 21" split rims. Currently have Kelsey
Continuing the learning process here. I have the tires off now and I think I can salvage 1 of the Kelsey rims I have but the other 3 are a mess. I could be wrong of course but they look sprung I can't make a flush seam when closed. I can post some pics of what I have if anybody wants to give me thei...

21" split rim questions
So I now have beautiful restored 21" wood wheel. I have the Kelsey split rim. Only 1 of the 4 has the locking hardware. Is there an option out there to not have a split rim yet still use the same 21" felloe? If not I see they sell Tie Plate. Can I do something with that? What are my options here? I'...

Wanted - split rim jack, rear wheel puller
I'm trying to source a split rim jack for my 21" split rims as well as a used hub puller. Anybody have any extra stuff lying around to sell me?
Thanks, Darren

Tires
Do you guys have a source for 21" tires other than Lang's or Snyders? Just curios if I'm missing something. I'm pretty happy with the results of my wheels and I just can't bring myself to put the old whitewalls back on. I have Kelsey split rims and only 1 of them is good. I saw a guy sell his rims a...

Re: I'm stumped. Any Transmission guys here?
Service manual page 81 Paragraph 300 says to press the driven gear down until flush with the face of the brake drum shaft. The clearance between driven gear and slow speed gears should be .006. In order to check that clearance I assume I have to put the trans with the triple gears on the flywheel ri...

I'm stumped. Any Transmission guys here?
Hey guys I need more advice. 1926 Coupe here. Problem: So I have new triple gear bushings with 10 Thousands thrust. The driven gear is pressed flush with the brake drum shaft. New transmission shaft from Lang's. Trans shaft installed as far as it will go and torqued to spec. When I took it apart it ...

Re: Relative magnet height question.
Those are aluminum shims under the spools. That was easier on some of them. When I removed the inspection cover to check my clearances I noticed the crankcase bolts all had lock washers and thought I’d try to make it more original whether it came this way or not from the factory so a went to the tro...

Re: Relative magnet height question.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the responses. I'm new and learning as I go. I was able to get all my magnets to within 3 thousands of each other. Dang that was an effort. My new field coil is super close finally. After about 3 hours and trying different shims for maybe 30 different attempts. I...

Re: Relative magnet height question.
Thanks. Yeah it’s not a patience thing really. I’m retired so time is not an issue just wondering what you guys do as far as height from trans face based on the service manual. Since we have some play with shims in the field coil as well seems to me just finding the midway point should be fine. What...

Relative magnet height question.
I reinstalled my magnets and I am using the KR Wilson jig. Reading over the comments on this forum regarding this issue I see people say they shoot for an overall variance of +/- 20 thousands. I can't find any mention regarding the magnet height relative to the trans shaft. The book says anywhere be...

Re: The only dumb question is the one not asked.....
Just went to Steve at Lang’s and ordered the complete set. Steve’s never let me down yet. When I went to checkout I grabbed my credit card and it was still smoldering from my last order.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.....
As I'm working on my wheels things keep getting deeper and deeper. Can somebody give me a little direction on the front hub assembly? As far as parts numbers and drawings go via this site I only find reference to wire wheels. Not sure if the parts I'm talking about are interchangeable or not but I h...

Re: So what type of wheels and felloes do I have now?
So I l restored what I had. It was pretty easy as only one rim was abused. The had excellent witness marks on the other ones to determine the angle I needed. All are striped, primed and ready for paint tomorrow.

Wanted Steel felloes for 21” wheel
If I can’t convert from wood to wire I’ll need to find new steel felloes for demountable rims. I just learned from you guys that mine are junk.
Need to explore my options so I can get on the road.
Thanks, Darren

Wanted: hubs to convert from Wood to Wire
Turns out my wheels are a mess. I don't know much about any of this but I think I just need to find wire wheels and hub adapters.
Currently have a 26 coupe of 21" wood wheels and steel felloes.
Anybody have anything for sale that may help me out?
Thanks, Darren

So what type of wheels and felloes do I have now?
Sorry but I'm so confused now.
So my rims are Kelsey and look just like the drawing via the drawings on this site under resources. If I look at my felloes they are flat on one side which appears to be Ford under the ford 2845B drawing or 2845C drawing.
So do I have Kelsey rims on Ford fellows?

Re: Wooden spoke question
Here is the fellow I have. I think it’s a Ford but my rim say Kelsey with a 7-6-09 stamped on each lug. There are 4 lugs I don’t know which spokes to order.
Thanks Darren

Wooden spoke question
I tightened up the hub and all the spoke are now tight. I was hoping for good measure I could just use something like Chair-Loc in the joints and tenons, epoxy at the tenon ends at the felloe, and Spar Varnish for protection. Will that for me based on what you see or are my spokes done for? Thanks, ...

Thanks for all the advice to my prior post. As a follow up: I pulled the rim off the wheel to see what was going on. 1.All the nuts holding the hub to the to the backing plate. Every one was loose! I checked them all originally when I checked out the axle and bearings. I drove it around 20 miles sin...

I'm new to the model T game so I'm just learning. What I'm learning so far is that this is a very expensive hobby! Ouch, anyway I have a 1926 Coupe with wood spokes. I just realized my spokes are loose. I'm finding different size tenon holes and lengths via the vendors. Is there a way to determine w...
