I used a flux core welder with reverse polarity. I used a copper back up strip riveted to hold the patch panel to the original sheet metal. Once done, I removed the copper strip and welded up the rivet holes. It took some grinding and a second pass to get a solid weld.

You could just use 2 new one eighth compression rings and one new oil ring in the top 3 grooves and reuse the bottom skirt ring. Or buy 2 sets of rings and have 3 new compression rings and a new oil ring on each piston. In any case you should the cylinder walls so your rings will break in correctly....

You could also machine a larger oversized piston to the size you need. I imagine you could acquire a set of oversized cast iron pistons very reasonably.

It’s a dropped front axle which lowers the height of the speedster. The ends of a standard axle are reshaped using heat and a press to make the offset.

If it were mine, I would use the later block and transmission. I have a 26 engine and transmission in my 24 touring. I really like the wider brake drum.

The horn is grounded through its mounting. Your problem is an internal short in the horn.

The 27 has a real 11 inch emergency brake and if in good condition and properly adjusted will slide the wheels. You don’t need Rocky Mtn brakes. Early 26/27 brake cams had the washer. Later ones did not. The washer was attached to the cam by riveting over the end of the brake cam. It was not a separate loose piece.

Take out the broken pin and let the u-joint float. It will find its running position and no pin to break and come loose . Pinion thrust is always forward. No force is available to push the pinion into the ring gear.

Using the right side for dimensions, make an opposite hand male pattern in oak. Get a piece of 20 gage steel and hammer form your rusted section. If the plating is good, then Simichrome polish will do a good job, Your playing appears to be blistered. The most economical thing to do would be to get a set of good used ones.

I have welded a similar crack with my wire welder. I left the bearing race in place when I made the weld. I have not run the hub. I think silver brazing a thin steel sleeve on the outside of the hub would be a good idea.

Brazing won't work well on a exhaust manifold. An exhaust manifold can get red hot with the spark retarded.
