After 20 yrs, suggestion is to go thru the front end and make sure it's tight, cotter pinned, and ready to go. Repacking the front wheel bearings, greasing cups and oiling stuff per the chart is a good idea. Check the fan for cracks too.... just some thoughts. Good luck!

Make up a jumper wire to go from (+) on battery to the input of the coil box, thus bypassing any switch issue you may have. If the coils don't buzz with a direct jumper, then it's either contacts in the coil box or the coils themselves.

Re: Oil leak

Won't be long.... teething pains on a new setup.

Scott C. has a good plan that will not require disassembly. Hopefully brake cleaner and ultra black will fix it.

Re: Plastic Fan Upgrade?

The model A fan coupled with the roller bearing fan pulley hub would be a really sweet set up.... but there is currently no way to index and pin the fan dead center on the hub. I'm hoping somebody smarter than me figures it out, because I'd love to run this set up on my cars. Running the roller bear...

-Stud Moving WIRE WHEEL HUB ---->Fixed!

What's the best way to repair a stud in a front hub for wire wheels that spins after you get it tightened down a bit? Any sneaky tricks???

... I have one of those plastic fans on my Model A and it works great.
Does the model A fan pulley hub have an idex or pin to center the plastic fan?
That is my sole issue right now.

I gave the original fan a really good look over before I put it back on. Hope it lasts.... I've read here on the forum that some have eliminated the fan altogether. Re: Plastic Fan Upgrade?

Unable to set plastic fan dead center on pulley because of lack of a key or pin.
I'm afraid of it walking, so I put the original metal fan on the ball bearing hub for now. Gonna run it as is.
So much for succeeding for now.

Plastic fan installed. 1rst run with it pending this a.m. I was unable to center the fan perfectly on the pulley, because there's no centering pin or any way provided to do it. I had to devise my own method, which I think is very close but not exact. Has anyone else done this conversion and been suc...

It's so much easier for them to say "NO" than it is to learn, or to find out the facts.

They matter, you don't. Besides that, you're a nuisance. You're complicating their day.

INSPECTION STICKERS

I've been after an inspection sticker for my speedster. The local shop says "no fenders, no sticker..." My friend who has a very nice '14 Reo touring car directed me to another shop. Turns out those of us of the Speedster persuasion, don't need fenders in Massachusetts. Pre 1949, no fenders required...

Repro LUG NUTS

I stripped out repro lug nuts on my '26 wire wheels. Seems lug nuts are some kind of stainless non magnetic alloy that is soft and strips easily. Chrome plating flakes off too, resulting from a very poor plating job. Nuts stripped out and would not tighten down. Failed at about 30 ft/lbs torque. Go...

Re: HIGH FLO ALUMINUM INTAKE?

The intake I saw needed the inside dressed and smoothed out. (Media blasted)
Lots of flakes and scale debris freely releasing from the inside surface, that would be headed to the intake valve of each cylinder.
I wouldn't want to ingest aluminum debris into the motor.

You are fortunate to be able to find old cars in junkyards where you live. Here in New England junk yards are full of 25 yr old stuff. The old cars are mostly long gone. I enjoy seeing pictures of junk yards from the mid west and the vast variety of old stuff. I'd like to have those brackets too! Ha...
