I am curious about your goal here. The car is obviously very nice but wondering if you are thinking of an upgrade for local or national level judging. There would be a significant difference there, both in terms of time and cost.

I have been the owner and caretaker along with my childhood friend Mark for 20 years. I too have a 26 Ford and have wondered about this. Given the large number of unique or unobtainable parts I've been left with the impression the Fordor was more of a response to a request car, so customers were not lost to Chevrolet, than a fast buck money earner. It depends on how you look at it, whether a Model T was my first car. My dad purchased my '26 Fordor in 1952 when he was 15 and it's by far the car we have owned the longest. It was the first car I ever drove (in about 1980) and it has always been understood that one day it would be mine. Technicall...

Re: What did you do with your model T in June

A couple more photos of the Ts at the Grand National yesterday. 41161.jpeg41161.jpeg I just looked over the results posted on the AACA website. It was a great weekend indeed for all of us showing T's or other early Fords. Every one of us received the award we were seeking. That made 10 Ts and one '...

I also did some work on my 13. Here I have just managed to get the original glass out of the windshield framework...intact! I have no idea why in my last post my photo uploaded twice. My apologies to all.

Re: What did you do with your model T in June

I took the 26 Touring to the AACA Grand National in Auburn. Lots of Ts there. I followed Mark and Phil Eyre in. They were showing their 11 Commercial Runabout. This was a great show. No idea if I won anything but I'm okay either way.

Re: AACA Grand National

I will need a bit of luck. This is a car that has been driven a LOT since it was last shown competitively, which was in about 2010 or 2011. The last time out we got smoked but that was a concours event. So we'll see. Maybe the rain they are predicting will come, putting the judges in an apathetic mo...

AACA Grand National

Is anyone else going to be at the Auburn Grand National this weekend? My car needed a MAJOR cleaning but I'm getting there. Hope to see a few of you there.

Horn trade

I am interested in trading horns with someone. Mine is in very original shape but likely is from a '14-15. I want the same type horn but with a round base. I know mine looks a bit rugged but would like another in similar shape as it would match the patina of the car. 20190529_074914.jpg 20190529_074...

Michigan allows them. You only need one but many people (including me) like to have a pair. I think the plates really enhance the appearance and authenticity of the car.

I would wager that a stock Town Car or Landaulet would be taller and a '09 Coupe might be taller yet. But, since there may be a dozen or less of all of those cars, combined, most of us commoners are safe.

It sort of was pulled out of hiding. This was a car that used to get driven and toured quite frequently. With the declining health of the previous owner it hasn't been out in a while. With about an hour of work it was drivable yesterday.

Phil and Mark Eyre heard of a 12 Roadster for sale. This is the car the found when they went to look at it. It turned out to be a 12 Torpedo Roadster. They now are up to three Torpedoes.

I drove the 13 Touring for the first time in nearly 2 years. It ran great righf until the throttle level snapped in two. This is a car that is in the middle of a full mechanical overhaul. Lots of time an money but it's worth it.

11 Torpedo Restoration

About 30 years ago Phil and Mark Eyre responded to an ad for a Model T Speedster. While they were not looking for another project, they thought the car could be a source for some parts. As they began looking over the disassembled collection of parts it became clear they were looking at many parts fr...

Grand Rapids also has a number of great attractions. If you were to head south 35 miles (from Grand Rapids)you could also take in the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners. Lots to do here in Michigan. We never get bored.

I drove the 26 Touring a bit today. Only in Michigan can you wake up to snow on the ground and go for a T ride in thr afternoon.
Meanwhile the Eyre Torpedo continues to look more like a car. Today the painted hood was installed for the first time.

I had a fiber gear in my 26 and found it perhaps 30 percent gone after about 4 years of use. It was replaced with an aluminum gear which subsequently (11 years in) has shown no appreciable wear. I will never again use a fiber gear.
