Update on the battery I bought

Last September I bought a new battery from Tractor Supply. It is a 6 volt heavy duty Traveler. I have not had to charge it yet which surprised me as I have had to charge my other batteries by now. I have not driven the T that much and it has been cold. It starts the T as good as it did the first tim...

Battery woes then success

I had a hard time starting my '20 runabout. The lights would work, the horn would work, but I couldn't get it to crank with the starter. I could hand crank it on battery. I figured it was the battery since it was over 4 years old. Then last week the horn wouldn't work as well as the lights. So, I to...

Re: I had a scare this weekend!

How about almost getting into the wrong truck in the parking lot? It happened to me once and the person inside got quit a jolt when I opened his door. I check close now before opening the door especially in a crowded parking lot.

Re: leaky sediment bowl petcock

I replaced the sediment bowl petcock today using Easy Turn. So far so good. No leaks. Thanks Chris for the Easy Turn suggestion and thanks to all you other guys for the suggestions and comments.

leaky sediment bowl petcock

I have a leaky petcock at the sediment bowl. It is acting the same way as the petcock at the radiator. I replaced the radiator petcock and the leak stopped. I am going to order a new petcock from Lang's. Is there anything different I should know about replacing the gas petcock as opposed to the radi...

Re: Battery relocation

I keep a battery maintainer on my '20. My car sits in an unheated garage. I didn't know about the tool to pull the battery so I made a wooden holder the battery sits on and pull it out with para cord. My original battery bracket had rusted out and been repaired, so it was easy to make a holder to pu...

Re: New Lang’s Catalog

I got mine torn and wrinkled like the last time, but only the cover. It's what's inside that counts and Lang's is the best.

Re: free starts

Love the stories guys. My engine was rebuilt before I got it and it looks pristine when I had the cover off and looked up inside. I also notice that when I get free starts it is when I retard the spark before shutting down the engine. I retard the spark with the engine running so I won't forget to r...

free starts

I decided to start up Speedy to get the juices circulating. I do this occasionally during the winter months, or when I can't get out and drive. After starting using the starter, I wanted to hand crank to see how easy it was in these temperatures. After hand cranking a couple of times, I turned the e...

Re: Oil Leak Help

When I first got my T, I had a bad oil leak around the Bendix cover. I didn't know it was the Bendix until I had the transmission rebuilt and found that the Bendix cover had a hole in it. The Bendix itself also needed replacing. After fixing the cover and replacing the Bendix, all is well. No more l...

Re: battery cable connection

Adam, when I bought the car, the battery was set up with a positive ground. No problems except for the difference in post diameter. G.R., the shims I bought was something like the picture you posted. Mine was a pair for about $3.00. I went to four stores before I found what I was looking for. Two st...

battery cable connection

Since the weather turned colder, I was having trouble connecting my cable to the battery. The terminal was too big for the post. No matter how much I tightened, it was not tight enough to turn the starter motor. I knew I needed something to tighten the cable against the post. I went to the parts sto...

old to new forum

Just testing out the forum. I switched over from the old forum last week. I really like the way it is set up although I can't get my old avatar photo shrunk down enough to use. I used Microsoft paint, but I can't quit get it to work.
