Re: Fighting valve stemms on demountable rims

On my previous military Model T, I went with a more aggressive, knobby tread design, but on the ambulance, I went with a more traditional tread design. I've had these on the shelf for a while. Universal tires. Tubes were what came out of the depot hack, all held air and contine to do so. universal t...

One down and four to go. Slow and steady, steady and slow, that is the way to go. The slit flap and the repositioning of the screw spreader did the trick. Thanks to all who offered input. Painting wooden spoke wheels this weekend and then baby will have a new pair of shoes.

I am trying that approach, but it seems that with the rim latched, it is very tight against the tire bead and the rubber flap and the tube with no core. I bend the valve stem, but no movement of the tube and flap combination under the rim and it just falls back into it's bent location.

Re: Texas auction end in two days

Auction prices always look good until the last 5 minutes. And, yest, buyers premium and shipping costs make buying a pig in a poke vehicle a real gamble. Auctions have turned into a real mine field in the past few years with the auction houses providing no recourse for fraud or mis representation. A...

Kinda related to the thread...I get a kick out of watching the old sales training films from the 40's and 50's that the sales manager would show to his car dealership sales force. Explaining the benefit of every feature and knowing the competitions features inside and out. Also, a neat training film...

One would think you could obtain Ford earnings statements from various years and divide by the number of cars produced that year, but that does not take into account any other sources of revenue such as dealerships, spare parts, and the internal vertical inagration by producing their own steel, rubb...

They may very well be felt. My wife felt them and believed them to be covered with flannel as the inner side that was not subject to metal rim exposure feels fuzzy. And, yes, I thought it was formed that way after decades of use, but they could be thicker in the center and thinner at the sidewall tu...

Don't flame me for bringing up the dreded tire flap topic, I've made the decision to use flaps on my 21" demountable rims. But, my question is . . . I have obtained the typical rubber tire flaps as well as two canvas strips that were used as flaps at some point in time. This is new to me, not being ...

The jeeeps did have thermostats and water pumps, and, yes, as our first military action in WWII was in N. Africa, perhaps overheating was an issue. All good points, but, again, my initial frame of reference is the WWII jeep where the first 50,000 or so, both assembled by Willys and Ford and the initial prototypes that were approved by the military had entire rubber upper and lower radiator hoses. So no worries about vibration, collapsing, rotti...
