Speedometer cable fell off.
Yesterday I went for a drive and noticed my speedometer quit working. Its on a 1923 Fordor. When I put the car away I could see that it slipped off and was laying across a tie rod and appears to be undamaged. I see the worm gear and it looks good. I haven't waded through the grease yet to see how it...

Re: "T" will not continue to run.
Problem solved. The T is once again on the road. I removed the carb and took it to a friend who is an aircraft Mechanic from the Army. He located the problem and corrected a defective float. He cleaned it and I took a nice ride. Thanks for the advice.

Re: "T" will not continue to run.
Thank you all. As Norm said I believe I need to remove the carb and blow it out. At that time can you tell if the float is sticking?

Re: "T" will not continue to run.
I finished changing out the gas, adding seafoam and checking the delivery lines to the carb. Everything is fine and it started, ran rough at first then smoothed out then quit again. Total run time was around a minute so I'm getting spark. It would not restart, just pop now and then. The only thing I ...

"T" will not continue to run.
My 23 "T" Fordoor has been sitting for awhile, about two months. It ran great the last few times I've had it out but yesterday I could not keep it running. It was most likely mad at me for neglecting it. After thinking about it and studying Donnie Brown's check list for getting a sick "T" running my...

Re: Odds of getting stolen
I use and open trailer for my Fordor and my concerns are for the hub caps and motometer. There is always some egghead looking for a souvenir. When I use the car during the day and park it in public lots I leave the keys in it because I doubt anyone could drive it.

Re: Changing clincher tires with flaps
When I replaced my tires with new ones on the 23 Fordor I managed to get the first one on by myself with tire irons and no lube, but it took me an hour. Flaps were not a problem. When my neighbor came over and assisted the extra set of hands on more tire irons made it fast and easy. The rest took ab...

Great job Donnie. The Howes were kind enough to allow me to straighten my pan on their jig and I thank them for the help. It's great to have another jig here in Arkansas.

New antique gas can.
I would love to own and older style gas can for my 1923 Fordor but I do not see any offered from vendors. Buying an antique with rust in the can is something I do not want to fool with. Has anyone or any vendor come up with a modern re-make of the old style gas cans?

Re: Signal Lights???
I installed turn signals and disc brakes on my 1923 Fordor and have no regrets. I did it for safety and at my age I need all the help I can get. I used the Langs kit for the turn signals and it worked great.

Re: Painting Options
Thanks for the good advice. I talked to an experienced body man yesterday and he advised me on how to deal with the aluminum on the car. It's not so much the price of the job that bothers me but the skills of the helpers working there. Another option I could have would be to remove the parts from th...

Painting Options
My 1923 Fordor is black and it stays black, from what I've been told. It's a driver but I want it to look its best when it appears in public. The old paint job is showing it age and it is worn in places and has runs and some small dents. I took it to our local body shop and the young man running it ...

Has anyone powder coated their running boards?
I attended a car show this weekend. My car, a 1923, Fordor, Black is not show quality but is a great driver. I drove it the 32 miles to and from the show without any problems. The biggest wear issue on the car is the paint on the running boards. It wears off and shows signs or rust. I pulled them of...

Re: WD40
On a serious note, I have used WD 40 for years to keep my antique guns rust free. But over the last couple of years I have noticed they are putting less pressure in their cans causing on average a third to a fourth of a can you can't use. I have complained to the company numerous times but have rece...

Drain antifreeze and replace with distilled water for summer?
I'm a novice and have 1923 Fordor that I drive around the Ozark Mountains. I have a new radiator and the barf system works well. As we approach the hotter days of summer, would it be advisable to drain the antifreeze and replace with water in order to achieve a more efficient cooling system? The boi...

Re: Fuel pump
I have a fuel pump (6 volt) and regulator on my 1923 Fordor but have it bypassed so most of the time I run without it using gravity feed. I live in an area with a lot of hills and will only switch it on when low on gas and need the boost to get up the hill.

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided on the Akuret Dip stick system but I'm having trouble finding one. The suppliers are out and have them on back order.

Can't decide. Sight glass, dip stick or leave it alone.
Checking the oil on the 1923 Fordor is not bad but isn't getting any easier at 77 years of age. I can't decide on the oil level modification I want. I had just about decided on the dip stick until I saw the new Mac's Catalog with the sight glass. But is the sight glass strong or will it break easily...

I love seeing a classic antique car put into the hands of someone who will work on the project. I see far to many old cars that people would like to restore in the hands of hoarders who allow them to sit , rust and deteriorate.
