I need to change to safety glass in my 100 year old touring T.
I have taken the frame and glass out of the car and found a fellow to cut the safety glass and replace it.
What advice can forum users give me to get out the old glass and put in the new safety glass?
Should heat be applied or some solvent to loosen the glass? It seems to be solidly...

I used two blocks of wood, two pieces of rubber floor mat and C clamps. Hold the frame down with your feet and pull out the glass.

A friend just bought some farmland that included several buildings full of stuff. I liked the design of this sausage grinder, using 2 steering wheels to make a pulley for the belt to ride in and the gear reduction slowing things down. I figured some pictures to the MTFCA crowd would be appreciated.....

Here we go with that firewall again. The drawing shows ⅜ holes for the two bolts and calls for T-7255 body bolts without giving the bolt size. The bolts used when this car was assembled in the seventies are ⁵⁄₁₆ . I'm assuming that the ⁵⁄₁₆ bolts are wrong and they should be ⅜ , but I'd better check and be sure. I'm trying to help an elderly friend on his Model T (1927 Roadster). He has a 12 volt battery installed but he is still running the 6 volt wooden coils and generator. He's using a ballast resistor (white porcelain resistor) that reduces power from 12 volts to 6 volts. We're having trouble with the car running for only a few seconds then dying. I...

There is no need to drop the voltage for the coils. In fact it shoots you in the foot. A T will run much better on 12v. Problem may be a sticky inlet needle/seat running out of fuel. Open the bowl drain into a glass jar checking flow & dirt in the system. Do the same @ the sediment bowl.

That doesnt look like a stock T radiator, but it appears the nipple will come off & is replaceable. Maybe with a formed brass tubing equivalent. I would check with a good radiator shop for the piece & repair.

Mashed a bit too hard on my starter switch today. Good thing i had a spare.... bent, loose and wobbly. It shorted out and the arc sound was spectacular. Did a bit of welding.....

Save the mounting plate, as it can be used to mount a solenoid.

Then you can hide a small starter button to trigger the solenoid.

I'm curious about what people tend to like to run their T's on. I know that today's gas is much better than it ever has been but is everyone just running regular 87 or is it worth going out of the way to find ethanol free fuel? I can do either since my carb has a drain on the bottom of it so no fuel will be sitting in the carb for extended periods...

Can't figure out why this is bored into the engine side of the this firewall....what's it for? It is only 5/8's deep and it does intersect the mixture control rod that passes through that slant drilled hole. Is there some sort of vibration damper that fits inside to keep the rod from turning on it's own whilst the car is traveling? You can see it...

The reason my new firewall had no hole for the light switch is what Wayne mentioned. The firewalls are made without the hole because of the belief that the early 1915 model year T's didn't have electric lights. For cars with mag lights it's up to the end user to add the hole.

Has anyone had any luck buying a headgasket lately? I have tried multiple suppliers, everyone says they've been on backorder for a long time. Steel, copper, silicone, all pretty scarce.

Bryant, what you describe is typical of one brand of aluminium heads. The castings are not necessarily consistent. Even the copper sandwich gaskets do not fit well on a head with combustion chambers that are inconsistent. The Prus head I fitted to my roadster is much better finished and it fitted really nicely.

I have a steel, high radiator shell for sale. It has tapered mounting brackets which I believe makes it is for a high radiator. It has a mixture of black paint and surface rust. I don't see any rust out, cracks, or missing pieces. I am asking $125 plus shipping.

I have ordered new glass for the doors in my 1927 coupe and have purchased the medal channel that attaches the glass to the window regulator. Restored and tested Wheeler-Schebler carb and related hardware. Included are the heat stove and flex tubing pieces. These carbs are a direct replacement, and actually better in my opinion than the Stromberg OFs, but not near as common. Asking $650.00 including shipping.

In the Canadian province of British Columbia in 1922 they switched from driving on the left to driving on the right.
Curiously While I have seen/found RHD hogsheads in both aluminum and cast iron, I have not seen one with a starter.
Perhaps ford switched to selling LHD cars there in 1919 anyway!

Wayne is having trouble finding anyone that will cut & install early ford windshields for his 12 & 14 T's. Everyone he has been sent to is either out of business or no longer provides the service for flat glass. Does anyone know of someone in the Austin Texas area that will do these.

I think I have seen vacuum gauges on Montana 500 dashes in the past. If not has anyone run a vacuum gauge on there model T and know what the vacuum is under acceleration? I know this changes with altitude just looking for ball park figure from hard acceleration to WOT.

I'm currently restoring a late 1911 touring car that has a November 1911 engine serial number, which matches the title. The original firewall still has what is likely the original patent plate shown in the picture below. This number is roughly 2000 higher than the engine serial number. Olympic 30 x 3.5 beaded edge tyres are legendary for their excellent quality and high mileage. They were last made in the early 1970 s. Olympic Tyre and Rubber Company alerted the old car clubs to the intended wind up and asked those who needed tyres to stock up.

A few items to bear in mind:
- Rajo overhead Model 30
- Hand crank only
- Texas T distributor with new Champion A-25 plugs
- Carter fuel pump with Holley regulator set at 1.5 lbs pressure; flow test was good

I have a 23 depot Hack and a 26 speedster and I want to put the engine/trans from the speedster into the hack.
I was thinking of removing the engine trans from each and swapping. Only main difference without going into it is the coils on the motor.

It became important for me to do something with the 1919 Harley-Davidson engine. The bike has been gaining in value and parts since the acquisition of a basket case in 1973. I painted the engine & exhaust with Rustoleum 500 degree engine paint waited about a week and started the 1916 T and it burnt the paint off the manifold exhaust and tail pipe. Is that normal or do I have a problem?

I think I have seen vacuum gauges on Montana 500 dashes in the past. If not has anyone run a vacuum gauge on there model T and know what the vacuum is under acceleration? I know this changes with altitude just looking for ball park figure from hard acceleration to WOT.

If anyone is awake on the forum, I’ve inevitably run into a couple questions installing the new interior.
On my seat base, do I have the carpet correct or is it upside down? And on the shoulder panels, what all hardware is used to install them?
My car had no proper interior in it prior so I am flying rather blind.

I have just replaced one of the rear axle seals on my 1916 Tourer, and have refitted the wheel. However, despite having it on and off a few times and rechecking the fitment of the keyway, there is about an 1/8 difference as opposed to the other side, and I can see the edge of the brake shoes on the side I have removed.

Actually, the brake drum is not supposed to cover over the backing plate, but come up to just about the outside face...

If one side DOES cover and run flush with the inside of backing plate, then that hub on the wheel has likely wallowed out and is going onto the axle farther than designed...if so, join the club...a great multitude of wheels run...
