That is a sure way to bend your axle. Create a Y strap and pull from the frame or outer ends of the axle.

Powder coating process was invented in 1945. It's not easy to remove if you should decide to restore the car to original, but it's your car so do what you like

That was my experience too. Every time I stopped, they were off. Fortunately I had other straps on the car.

I’ve seen this roadster up close. It looks like very well done, period work. I’ve encountered other Model K were converted to speedsters in the early years after production. I’ve long suspected this car was changed to a roadster years ago.

Wow Mike, that Sears pigtail horn is quite an arrangement. The scalloped horn on the 09 is the only one I've seen with the radial inlet tube...very cool, thanks for sharing these.

Ignacio, Lots of options. I have built five speedsters over the years. Cannot remember all the details of all of them. On one, I raised the bottom bracket enough that the upper (sideways) bolt went just over the top of the frame rail. I bent and bolted a flat steel (strap iron/bar stock) from one of the bottom bolt holes (the back one as I recall)...

I talked with Steve at Lang’s and those pins are too short for the coups and sedans.
I think I’ll take Jeff’s advice and try the model A hinge pins. I’ve checked all the Model T parts suppliers and no one has them. I’m curious why they didn’t send me to the 28-29 model A pickup ?

I suppose if you were using bolts that did not thread up enough, you could have hit the nonthreaded portion before the head seated. Thus appearing tight.
