My 1923 transmission disaster included a broken low drum and a seized triple gear bushing. The flywheel was toast, of course. I don't know whether one failure caused the other, or they were coincidentally simultaneous.

You are missing the rest of the bracket assembly.

That particular set-up has an additional bracket that screws into the door sill. Then, you attach the horn to the permanent bracket on the sill with a single bolt and nut or wing nut.

It's designed that way to prevent theft. It allows you to easily detach the horn and take it with you, if so...

A coil will operate without a capacitor at all for a short time, then the points will look like the photos above.

The last time I checked there didn't seem to be any points anyplace good enough for those coils.

For no more than you need, it is much cheaper to just send them to Ron or Brent, rather than gather all the tools an materials you need...

Are Optima batteries that good you ask? Yes, they pretty much are. And, as you've been told, besides the momentary load of the starter, there is very little else to drain the battery, especially when your lights are off and your magneto works. You could literally go for weeks...

In 1929 my mom, her sister, brother, and sister-in-law drove out to New Mexico and Arizona in this Chebby. In those days such a trip was a big adventure, and they talked about it the rest of their lives.

Often the trunk was an actual trunk, set on supports bolted to the frame.

That carburetor is for a Dodge Brothers.

The ignition system consists of a number of parts and assemblies. All of the parts and assemblies must be in good working order for the system to work properly and consistently deliver a good spark to each cylinder at the proper time, every time. The ignition system is somewhat like a chain. It will only function as well as the weakest link.

Your second post implies the noise has changed for the worse.

Its the tripple gears. Check the slop in the bushings. Pull the transmission access cover & wiggle the gears one @ a time with a large screwdriver. Check teeth condition visually. If your inspections dont show glaring wear/looseness, this noise level may be normal.
