I purchased a Touring a few months ago and it came with a 1997 tag receipt that says it is a 1919. The engine number is 6186775 which is a 1922. It has light switch and amp meter on the drivers door panel but has electric start button on the floor. It has kerosine lamps with brass top and brass doors and a Bauer Fatman steering wheel. Have been to the 'Pantheon' in Basel / Switzerland yesterday.
In a special exhibition between others there were a 1904 De Dion Bouton and a 1906 Ford Model N standing side by side.
Interesting to me to recognize the differences between old and new world cars in that case.

just had a valve job done by a well respected mechanic on my 1917 engine. Crank is in car and complete valve train but I have not yet installed the pistons. When engine is turned over valve train is making a clicking sound. Mechanic suggests running engine and maybe it will go away. That does not appeal to me. Any suggestions appreciated. All new...

I am painting my 1912 commercial roadster dark blue with black fenders. Were the open door sill moldings painted blue or black? What about the hood former, the hood shelves and rear sear riser molding that curves up from the floorboard to the top of the platform the rear seat sits on. The car won't be pin striped.

I believe that fenders as well as the body would have been midnight blue. Sills and everything except the chassis.

I have three rebuilt Stromberg OF carbs. Complete, tested, and ready to go. I used some of the Tim Morsher steel replacement parts on these carbs. In the Canadian province of British Columbia in 1922 they switched from driving on the left to driving on the right.
Curiously While I have seen/found RHD hogsheads in both aluminum and cast iron, I have not seen one with a starter.
Perhaps ford switched to selling LHD cars there in 1919 anyway!

Hello everyone! I have a quick question for you. We own a 1923 TT Fire Truck which should have a serial number of around 6 to 9 million. Why would the serial number be 11,307,223? That seems around 1925... Weren't replacement engines always stamped with the existing block number?

I'm curious about what people tend to like to run their T's on. I know that today's gas is much better than it ever has been but is everyone just running regular 87 or is it worth going out of the way to find ethanol free fuel? I can do either since my carb has a drain on the bottom of it so no fuel will be sitting in the carb for extended periods...

When the Stromberg OF was sold to mount in a Model T, it came with a choke control that mounted on the steering column. These are from a very nice solid pair of 21” wheels. They were very nice and tight and also very tight into the steel felloe. That original 100 year old hickory grain is hard to match. Spokes are all marked in order that they came out of the rim. Scrape them down and assemble two wheels at a nice savings. $56 includes delivery to your mail box....

Hi,

Has anyone had any luck buying a headgasket lately? I have tried multiple suppliers, everyone says they've been on backorder for a long time. Steel, copper, silicone, all pretty scarce.

If anyone knows of a supplier who currently has them in stock, please share. Thank you!

Look up CP4 Pump failure.
Seems these pumps will fail and trash out the fuel system. Everything has to be replaced. Lines, injectors filter housing and even tank.
Ford dealer I had mine at yesterday had two in there. Jon’s were 14000 each.
There is a kit that keeps the pump trash from going back to system. Will not stop pump failure just...

If you want real problems, wait for all personal diesel trucks have the DEF systems. Our plant spent 3 million dollars for 2 CAT loaders for our quarry and they are keep having problems with the DEF systems. Our old loaders we have a better reliability. We can't even fix them ourselves, the computer software for diagnostic is propriety. :evil:...

I have a good sized collection of original Ford T literature, and have heard for many years, the Ford actually had a listing of Ruckstell parts in his late parts book. I finally saw an example of one of these on the Ford fix website. It is a fake to be sure, probably botched together by Polyprints back in the sixties. They even misspelled AXLE!...

I have a 1921 Wholesale parts list, that as Larry said, the cover stock is same as pages inside and does not show anything that it would be a reproduction. However, my March of 1927 body parts book, which has no indication of being a reprint, does have heavier stock used for cover.
I wonder if the reprints have a heavier cover to protect the pages...

As others have pointed out, your timer appears to be dry as a bone which has resulted in premature wear to the roller and contacts ring. Timers need to be lubricated fairly often with oil or thin grease to prevent this wear.

She had to call the main office in the state capital to ask if it was even possible to use a two digit Vin #. Her computer would not let her complete the registration forms with only two digets. Peter, I went back to your distributor post and checked out the photo you posted. Based solely on what I could see of the right hand hood shelf, your car is not a 1926 model. That would explain why you have no wide brake band/drum on the transmission. Some more photos of the car would help.

Here is a scarce brass era tail light. This is a C.M Hall 123-E combination oil and electric tail light ( as originally made, hence the -E designation) from around 1911-1914'ish. It is all brass and was originally nickel plated and still retains a good amount of its plating. It is missing the clear flat lens on the door which is easy to replace....

Thanks Duane. That switch would cover the three holes in the vendor's wheel. Good spot. Presumably both styles of buttons would require a free loop of wire under the wheel, just like the Canadian horn buttons require. I guess the aim was to put the horn button in a more convenient position

Pretty uncommon carb. Zenith U6 that came with RAJO B heads. Hard to find. This is missing a few items that sharp-eyed folks might catch, but nothing that cannot be fabricated to the point of being indistinguishable from original. Good stuff is still out there. I think it's safe to say that Stan would say ZOOM ZOOM!

How about putting the threaded end of the new oval headed screws in a drill press and while running, sand off the plating, then bury the screws in a container of wet dirt until they achieve the amount of rust and age you desire or until the patina matches the original ones in your car. Jim Patrick
