If it is a vent/p-trap problem, this procedure may be an easy test. Take plastic shrink wrap (Saran wrap) or that stick-on carpet liner stuff. Stretch it over the sink to seal the top of the sink completely. Use some tape to seal around the drain stopper actuator on the drain linkage where it enters the drain pipe under the sink.
