I decided that I wanted to give LED lights a try. I purchased 5-30 volts non-polarized bulbs. When they arrived I installed the first bulb and it light up nicely, but when I installed both neither worked. I tried again with one LED and one incandescent and it worked. One incandescent alone also works...

So then to eliminate any type of...

Test 1: Remove one incandescent bulb and replace with LED bulb. Single LED lamp works fine.

if you connected one of the LED bulbs directly to the battery and it doesn’t lit up. i’d say it’s burnt out

Please note in Test 1 the LED lamp is working fine!...

I've been looking, without success, for the compression boost from the domed pistons offered by the vendors. From stock 4 to 1 to ???

Anyone know or have a feel for it?

Since you can’t currently get a high compression low head, high compression pistons are a viable option for early cars. Domed pistons with a low head run quite well.

Thanks to Richard on hear I now have a set of Rocky Mountain Brakes that will be going on a 24 Coupe that Tim helped me find. A big thank you to both gentlemen!!! If you need to shim the axles, the shims are tapered to fit the end of the axle inside the hub. They can be ordered from any of the vendors. Your hubs might fit on without any shims. I don't recognize the big car either, but I do like it! And the T is clearly a 1914 style, which was actually manufactured for well over a year and a half! Early electric headlight with lens. Fits very late 1914 and early 1915 Model T Ford. This is the time when they were phasing out gas and bringing in electric headlights. Brass rim has a few minor cracks. As mentioned above has very good Spreadlight lens. $75

How difficult should it be to roll up the door glass? I have installed new safety glass in the drivers side door, and it is very, very hard to roll up. The glass is very tight in the channel.

You could go the route of cutting new glass and if you think 1/8 less in width might do it, then go with that. Depends upon the model transmission.
If it is the six speed version, actually a three speed progressive shift, be very careful. Do not try to force it because you can't!
I had one many years ago, that wasn't very rusty inside, and never did get it loose. There is a big sliding gear with a couple of dog clutches that takes very little rust inside...

Now that my car has some new tires I plan on taking her out a but more. Work is only 12 miles away so I see that happening often in 2023 but I would like to plan on some longer trips than 24 miles round trip. I am sure many of you have great stories and I would love to hear about them.

The longest would have been an interstate rally where I did about 1800km (1125 miles) round trip. Most of my trips are at least about 120km because of where I live, and where my destinations usually are.

I have both and on paper the A wins hands down.....it's faster, holds the road better, bigger etc. etc. That said I find much more joy in driving my Model T. For me I think it's the simplicity, history, and the fun to drive 2 speed. Do not get me wrong I love my A as well but if I could only keep one the T would be the keeper.

Was the magneto coil wrap cotton or linen? Has anyone tried wrapping their windings with 100% lite weight cotton twill?

Mark, I'd use white, I doubt the black dye is conductive, but using pure white cotton eliminates that possibility. FWIW, Glyptal 1202 insulating varnish (clear) is a good product for sealing/insulating the mag ring assembly.

Ordered the white and plan on sealing with the Glyptal varnish. Darn, Snyders is out of stock on the insulators, so guess...

The box says it’s for 15-17 model t. I’m assuming it’s a regulator for mag lights since it comes with two new bulbs. They are 6-8 volt. The instructions are so bug eaten and rotten they just crumble. I have no idea where it would mount, it comes with one bolt. Anyone ever seen them before?

Here is a great NOS, all original, STOP brake light assembly. It is in original with excellent paint and has never been used or mounted. Excellent lens, plated rim, mounted bracket, etc. It measures 4 1/4 diameter by 2 1/2 in depth. A really nice piece and a desirable accessory.

Here is the plate that mounts on the top of the cylinder and the water manifold attaches for a c.1910'ish Palmer Singer. Also included are two, very heavy, machined tapered/threaded dowel pins which I believe are from the same car. Neat items for display or use.

Over the last few months I’ve read number of posts on different builds, restorations, and trips. With current roads and their maintained speed only a dream when the Model T was being built, how well do wheel and axle bearings hold up?

Also kingpins and spindles? Are speedsters stressing these parts when pushing to limits?

I have no first hand advice. However, when we have a Cooker Tour , it seems most of the folks in our chapter start with fully cooked food that is simply warmed in the manifold cooker. Helps to prevent the possibility of undercooked meat. So, I'd say pick your favorite chili recipe, cook it at home the day before, then warm it up in the cooker. Or,...

Even though Steve Jelf created some great directions on setting your Model T timing over at ,
I thought I would splurge on the Timing Indicator with LED kit that the vendors supply. It is supposed to make it easy to find the 15 degrees ATDC.

I agree the pin position technic works great.
I almost always prime the engine with 4 pulls, and then she always starts right up.

I bought this rim at a swap meet for my Model T shortly after getting into the hobby. I thought it was a T headlight rim until noticing differences with a T rim. This one has a 9-1/8 diameter rather than the 9 diameter on a T headlight rim. There are also 4 steel pads on the outside of the rim, equally spaced. Does anyone know what this is used on?

I passed it around at the T club meeting last night. No guesses as to what its use was. If it had been modified in the past, the rim showed no tool markings on the inside of the rim where it might have been welded and ground down. I’m just curious enough to see what’s under the paint. Thanks for the replies on the headlight rim.

A question for anyone who has installed a new Stipe cam. Does a new Stipe cam come with the two dowel pins for locating the large timing gear, installed on the cam, out of the box? Mine came with the pins. They are necessary to align the cam gear with the cam. It can go on either way because the crank is exactly the same position at 180 degrees.

Can anyone shed some light on whether to use the original one I have or switch over to a solid state one.
A description of the original one could result in generator failure and the solid state ones sound like they
are more reliable. I found them on Snyders web site and the cost is a lot less that replacing a generator
if the relay gets stuck....

Well it so happens I pulled the canvas off the speedster project and started scroungeing up parts stuffed in nooks and cranys in the shop and i had bought 1 of those diodes! and had a cut out in the bag with it and was apparently looking at doing this during the last work on the project.
That is I guess 1 of the good things about closed head...

This post is only for dye hard T guys. I've been searching for years for original 9/16 upholstery nails, and have not been successful. They only used these on the end of the binding on early cars possibly until they started using hidem welt. I was using 7/16 until recently. The rest of them are 3/8 .
I sort of scored recently by finding some 1/2...
