Typically the rod will be threaded so you can thread it in or out. Is there an equalizer?

I would do as another poster relayed info from another site. Post the insurance company name and sequence of events with dates. Then send it to them. This will also help members on this site see potential insurance company issues and who is reputable or not. Would be interesting if some trends emerge.

John Regan's magnificent 1912 Ford Baudette bodied delivery car was originally built during the oil filler timer period.
When John restored the car he found a correct oil filler timer and used it.
The story about John finding the unique timer is hilairous.
I will leave it to Kim Dobbins to relate here what happened.

I have never seen or heard of a Jumbo Giant transmission; I don't know whether it's great or not, but they weren't real creative with the redundant name for it.

I have a new, unfinished firewall of the 1911/1912 two piece variety. I plan to stain it using Laurel Mountain cherry stain. For those of you who have done this staining, how much stain is needed? Since front and back need staining, it seems like it would take a whole lot more than one of the 4 oz. containers that Laurel Mountain sells.

Some additional info will help with the advice.
If the engine is all together then the Texas T oiler is problematic to install ( I agree with Dan is the best ) The higher that the oil enters the oiler the steeper angle it will deliver oil to the front. If I’m going to be running in the mountains most of the time I would install as many as I could....

Another give away for the coil is whether the slide off side has two small nails to hold it in place or a staple.

The ones with the nails have Ford at the top or perhaps if older, in the center of the other side.

They move easier than the motorcycle ones I'm used to. I will try tightening up. I think looking up so high to them is something I have to get used to, I'm not that tall.

I always use the new ones in transmissions builds, especially if the customer requests a turbo or other modern lining clutch. They are not that expensive and good insurance.

I had a 1914 speedster with a spring like that or very similar. I really did not notice anything different than normal. But it was a light car. I think mine was a Longleaf brand.
After looking closer to your photo/ad I see the ad shows a double-set of springs. Mine was a single spring as shown in the photo above

The question of how to use this tool comes up frequently. I think someone needs to do a video on how to properly use it before the knowledge is lost to obscurity.

It will certainly wear grooves in the tie rod where the coil springs rub. There is a better version which has a cast arm mounted to the axle at the front and extending back to the wishbone ball. Both are designed to solve a nonexistent problem. However, if you chuck away all but the cast arm of the better version, you do have a set-up which might...

Thank you for your thoughts Keith and others. Craeg's carers brought him to our home for a day visit today, and he was able to see the display stand. I read him some of your comments from the forum and he was quite chuffed.

There is another with mainly T parts. I need a stand for it too. I am thinking this one will look about right on an axle...

It was a brand new engine 4-5 years ago, but I have driven it from Milwaukee to Detroit twice, so it has gotten a work out.

I found it Ian. Cast into the underside is TT 1924-B With the Ford script below and an A in a circle, most likely the maker's mark. It has only one hole, for the advance/retard rod, so will be for a generator equipped vehicle. Au$20 plus whatever the postage is.

It was described as being a Californian top. I think the term Californian is now a more generic name for a type of type that turns a touring into more like a sedan with a soiid top, possibly with many different manufacturers of the same concept.

I have a 1916 Touring, great little car, they are not as rare as some other brands from the time so parts are not impossible to find. From 17 on to the early 20’s the rear ends are notorious for poor metals and gear disintegration. The cowl is riveted in that area but I don’t recall how. I know it’s riveted to a metal bracket that is attached to the top drivers side false door wood. I cannot remember on the passenger side.

Yes! Exactly. If it isn't, the sleeve will wear a groove in the axle.

One thing often overlooked when removing magnets is keeping the triple gear pins in place. Magnets keep the pins from backing out. Now I personally have not had that happen, I have seen the results.
When ever I remove magnets for someone, I require installation on a retaining ring.

The issue is that there are at least two different makers of replacement pins, and BOTH are serviceable, one being slightly more pure in roundness than the other.

That said, let's stop for a moment and reflect. The original Ford design called for a 0.002 -0.003 interference fit between the raised pin area and the flywheel. So..yeah a purist...

The beach here is just a stones throw from the Florida Institute of Technology so the scenery can be mixed. Once in a while I take the T down to the beach and the ladies love it, Iv had to tell them to use a little judgment as the seats can get very hot against the missing insulation.
