Mashed a bit too hard on my starter switch today. Good thing i had a spare.... bent, loose and wobbly. It shorted out and the arc sound was spectacular. Did a bit of welding.....

It has a box, but the ends are gone. Just the side are there. The float has been chewed on by a mouse.

Nice pictures! The first one with the Coupe must have been taken when the car was almost new going by the glossy paint. In around a year or so the dirt roads and weather would have given the Coupe a T’s normal look.

Could be be right off the showroom floor? Sold without a spare tire.

Hi, I put some gas in, put in a couple coils, and it runs, drives, trans. shifts good. There is not rust in the quarters, It has been repaired a very long time ago and is holding up good. A small amount of rust in the sub frame. It is still $6700 with it running. It is not perfect, it is not $20,000.

I'm curious about what people tend to like to run their T's on. I know that today's gas is much better than it ever has been but is everyone just running regular 87 or is it worth going out of the way to find ethanol free fuel? I can do either since my carb has a drain on the bottom of it so no fuel will be sitting in the carb for extended periods...

I think I have seen vacuum gauges on Montana 500 dashes in the past. If not has anyone run a vacuum gauge on there model T and know what the vacuum is under acceleration? I know this changes with altitude just looking for ball park figure from hard acceleration to WOT.

Research shows the Austin 7 ones are much smaller.
One UK supplier told me they are made in Taiwan on special order for the Austin guys. By the looks of it they are made by the same outfit but tracking them down might be hard.

Might try soaking these wobbly ones in oil, they aren't any use as they are.

I am headed down to California to pick up my new 22 pickup and there is a chance that the key is missing. I see that I can get replacement keys, but I don’t know how to do that if I don’t know the number. Is it stamped on the switch somewhere?

This would not be an issue if the freight company in Tacoma did not require the key to ship it to...

Another reason I went with Plexiglas was the lightweight . My monocle frame was the repro light alum. frame, that I painted black instead of polishing. It used a simple bolt and nut arrangement for the hinge adjustment, the bolt shared the same duty as clamping the frame to the column.

Can someone post a picture or two of the gas line routing for a 1926 Roadster? Mine came to me with a stock sediment bowl, but rubber hose to the stock carb. I suppose it's not a dire need, but I'd like to change it to stock.

to add to what Bob said, it takes very little tightening to get a leak free seal. Additionally, the rubber expands to grab threads and it acts as a very nice deterrent to accidental unscrewing. Excessive tightening will act like a very effective swage and can neck down the tubing on some tubes depending on the alloy used.

I'm currently restoring a late 1911 touring car that has a November 1911 engine serial number, which matches the title. The original firewall still has what is likely the original patent plate shown in the picture below. This number is roughly 2000 higher than the engine serial number. I need to change to safety glass in my 100 year old touring T.
I have taken the frame and glass out of the car and found a fellow to cut the safety glass and replace it.
What advice can forum users give me to get out the old glass and put in the new safety glass?
Should heat be applied or some solvent to loosen the glass? It seems to be solidly...

I at one time had a book entitle This Was Trucking I just about read the ink off of the pages.
I thought that it might be fun to post some photos of trucks similar to the ones that were in that book.

Here we go with that firewall again. The drawing shows ⅜ holes for the two bolts and calls for T-7255 body bolts without giving the bolt size. The bolts used when this car was assembled in the seventies are ⁵⁄₁₆ . I'm assuming that the ⁵⁄₁₆ bolts are wrong and they should be ⅜ , but I'd better check and be sure. I've found plenty of incorrect...

A friend just bought some farmland that included several buildings full of stuff. I liked the design of this sausage grinder, using 2 steering wheels to make a pulley for the belt to ride in and the gear reduction slowing things down. I figured some pictures to the MTFCA crowd would be appreciated.....

I'm trying to help an elderly friend on his Model T (1927 Roadster). He has a 12 volt battery installed but he is still running the 6 volt wooden coils and generator. He's using a ballast resistor (white porcelain resistor) that reduces power from 12 volts to 6 volts. We're having trouble with the car running for only a few seconds then dying. I...

There is no need to drop the voltage for the coils. In fact it shoots you in the foot. A T will run much better on 12v. Problem may be a sticky inlet needle/seat running out of fuel. Open the bowl drain into a glass jar checking flow & dirt in the system. Do the same @ the sediment bowl.

Can't figure out why this is bored into the engine side of the this firewall....what's it for? It is only 5/8's deep and it does intersect the mixture control rod that passes through that slant drilled hole. Is there some sort of vibration damper that fits inside to keep the rod from turning on it's own whilst the car is traveling? You can see it...

The reason my new firewall had no hole for the light switch is what Wayne mentioned. The firewalls are made without the hole because of the belief that the early 1915 model year T's didn't have electric lights. For cars with mag lights it's up to the end user to add the hole.

I have ordered new glass for the doors in my 1927 coupe and have purchased the medal channel that attaches the glass to the window regulator. As the final touches are being put together for the annual MTFCA Homecoming at the Museum,
we could use an extra hand during the Homecoming for an hour or so to help the workers get a break.

It takes a lot of manpower to put this event on for the Club members and public.

Restored and tested Wheeler-Schebler carb and related hardware. Included are the heat stove and flex tubing pieces. These carbs are a direct replacement, and actually better in my opinion than the Stromberg OFs, but not near as common. Asking $650.00 including shipping.

In the Canadian province of British Columbia in 1922 they switched from driving on the left to driving on the right.
Curiously While I have seen/found RHD hogsheads in both aluminum and cast iron, I have not seen one with a starter.
Perhaps ford switched to selling LHD cars there in 1919 anyway!

Wayne is having trouble finding anyone that will cut & install early ford windshields for his 12 & 14 T's. Everyone he has been sent to is either out of business or no longer provides the service for flat glass. Does anyone know of someone in the Austin Texas area that will do these.

I think I have seen vacuum gauges on Montana 500 dashes in the past. If not has anyone run a vacuum gauge on there model T and know what the vacuum is under acceleration? I know this changes with altitude just looking for ball park figure from hard acceleration to WOT.

It eventually became farm equipment and in the 50s my Dad recalls scrounging the headlight lenses from the pile once it was completely used up. Great Grandma saw his treasure and reclaimed the glass and used them as flower pot...

The front fenders appear to be flat instead of crowned, and the headlight rims appear to be black, so I would say 1916 is likely.
