Tom, it doesn’t have a left tilt. But if you aren’t apposed to adding a small wood wedge on the right side of the bracket to match your firewall it could easily be made to be seen easy by the driver.

Regarding the Fel-Pro blue colored head gaskets, these gaskets, or similar looking Fel Pro gaskets were not intended to need re-torquing, at least on modern applications, such as a Ford FE V8. I'm guessing that would not apply to using one of these gaskets on a Model T when installing a new aluminum head. Does anyone have experience doing this?

It became important for me to do something with the 1919 Harley-Davidson engine. The bike has been gaining in value and parts since the acquisition of a basket case in 1973. A total rebuild isn't an option for me at this time but I believe I can reassemble it and at least get all the parts in one place and maybe fire it up. One of the crank pin...

Since the heat wave broke, a friend came down to visit and help with another test drive of my 1912 Flanders 20 Runabout. This time I leaned the carb out a bit and increased the base timing, the car seemed to like the changes.

The car now goes fast enough that I need to install some cushion material around the lamp lenses before they rattle...

Black vinyl covered seat springs out of a early unknown vehicle. Bottom spring is 34-37 inches wide 17 inches deep and 6 inches tall. Back is foam, 41-45 inches wide 22 inches high and 5 inches tall. Ten dollars each plus actual shipping cost.

Sitting here starting the process of measuring 8 bearings & checking for taper using 3 different points. I decide to procrastinate and started thinking there has to be a better way. Is there? Love to hear your best practice? I’ve gone as far as using a bar at standard 1.062 to see the height of the rollers above the cage.

I have a decent looking Standard Speedometer head but it has no main input drive, I already have a nice correct cable, a nice 2.5:1 swivel and the correct steering arm with the hole for the mount. Most of the steps in assembling a carburetor range from easy to super-easy. But I have always found lining up the holes in the throttle shaft and plate another story. You can see by the pliers marks on this plate that I've been struggling with it.

On my own carb I don't care about the marks. As Dude Lester says, It don't hurt...

I've done this for years, and never had a problem. Find another piece of wire the same diameter and use that as a guide. I've also used a scribe to help me get started.

I don't know if it was due to years of antifreeze or hot water, but old #2 definitely failed in that application for me.

Choosing among plugs is pretty easy. Steel will rust out, of course, while brass will not. But I think the nickel Norm suggested will last even better than brass. It's also cheaper, if that matters. It's what I use....

Pressured washed the frame got 99&44/100% of the red clay off
as far as I can tell this is a piece of copper tubing used as a shim for worn brake pivots.

I use flaps on mine, for no other reason then, the tubes I have been getting are smaller than they should be. Have a devil of a time keeping the tube stuffed in the tire while trying to mount them. For some of us that still working with tires more than a few years old and have to fight them on the rim, flaps protect the tubes from the tire irons...

Exhaust Manifold broken.jpg

Many, many bad word were said.

This Frontenac exhaust manifold had been repaired (at least) once before and the flanges were so thin, spacers were needed for the manifold to clear the hogshead. There is no marking on the head, but the combustion chamber measurement indicates it is a Model T....

I am about to embark onto repairing the door hinge pins on a 1914 Runabout and am curious if anyone has done this and would be willing to share their experiences.

Since the hinge pins are 'killed' on the one I am working on, I think my initial thoughts are to align the two pieces the best I can and then put a tack-weld onto the hinge loops to...

Final opinion first. Your square felloe wheel was most likely changed onto the car at some point in the past. I haven't seen anything that makes me believe that square felloes were used before mid to late 1917 model year (maybe about June 1917?). So your February 1917 should have the earlier style.

I have noticed an odd situation with rear spring for my 1927 coupe. The end of second leaf on the right side is not in contact with the bottom leaf. The attached photo show the situation.

While not shown in the photos, there is a slight wear pattern on top of the bottom spring below the end of the second leaf.

Is this problem??

If you are thinking of perhaps buying a new spring, call one of the suppliers which you like and ask them about the option of purchasing a spring and then removing the smallest leaf yourself. I am betting that correct or not, it will ride just fine, and fit like it should after doing that. Or, alternately and perhaps a better choice would...

I need a couple of commutator control rod swivels - P/N 3534S. Chaffins doesn't make them anymore so none of the vendors (that I contacted) are oit of them as well. If no one has some new units, I would take good used ones, just advise what you have, how much and how you want to get paid.

Were gas lines always zinc plated from 1909? I have a NOS one that is, and an original one on my 1925 too.

I believe some years back, John Regan did some extensive research into fuel lines. Hopefully, I'm not misquoting him, but I believe his conclusion was that fuel lines were all brass.

Looking for 3, preferably 4, nickel Schrader P/N 2061 rim nuts that fit Schrader 725 (fatter) metal stems.

Having trouble loading photos. These are the formed flat nuts with recessed rubber or leather washer in the nut recess.

I've looked for quite a while for a correct screw driver for my TT. I found one today at a steam and gas engine show for $8.00.

Is there any record of years when this was provided in the tool kit?

The drawing indicates on 10-11-20 is was Obsolete. The screwdriver does not appear in the 1921 parts book. I would concur it was no longed supplied in the tool roll in 1921.

Well, it's been hot so I've been chipping away as I can. The garage is usually around 100 in the evenings. I did manage to find a guy that could, and did weld the wheel studs on. I know the best thing would have been all new (3 at least) hubs, but that would have been expensive.
As for the charging system.......still stumped. As you may recall...

What I have: what i believe to be, a pair of 1924/25 Coupe rear Fenders, i am told they were used on 25 runabputs as well. View then at Hershey and decide that they are what you need. They are clean, straight, and older (original?) paint. Some surface discoloration, no pitting. Have not had body work done to them. Honest 'original' ford steel....

Ordered last Thursday (8/4) the set of four for my '13 arrived this morning. Perhaps I don't know enough to be displeased ? They look good to me, and I'm sure I'll be happy with them. I'm not sure what they are calling a blemish. This minor flaw on one of the tires is all I could see in the way of imperfections.
