I found a problem with the reproductions , but used it to my advantage. I’ve done two in the past couple of years. The bushing was supposed to be a light press fit, but both just dropped in. Also, be sure to watch eBay auctions for parts wheels. The identifying ring is sometimes missing, and also on some, the rings were not stamped, or possibly stamped with some private label. Thus, the seller may have no idea who made it. These were made a half mile from where I was hatched.

Len, if you can source a damaged TT radius rod, they were used in the day to make a trailer hitch. Sure better than shipping heavy iron over there. The holes line up to the rear spring clamps. Cut to length needed. Probably a simple brace would be involved.

Hubcap medallion. These were riveted to an off-the-shelf item, used on many makes cars. Remember, FoMoCo was an assembler then.

Re: Virtual swap meet

Dennis said just about all, Mack. It’s very easy. Wifey does it for me. Ask if you need more help. Don’t get too worried about an accurate scale. If you are close, it’ll count. The Flat Rate boxes are great. Unless you are selling lead buckshot, you will likely never reach the weight limits. Also, r...

Jason, it really shows Mr Porters admiration and dedication to early Fords. That B was restored 60 years ago, and she still looks great.

Re: Ford Model B - fact and fiction

Here is what little I have, Rob. These are pics of the discovery of B#1. I wish now I would have recorded the story. It was found in Missouri, and the tall old farmer was the owner. He was going to restore it one day. LD Porter convinced him that he’d rather have a couple hundred bucks. A couple sma...

Virtual swap meet

We need to keep the old car hobby moving. Think about this. If you never done it before, it’s easy to post items and sell right here. If you don’t know how to post pics, take advantage of the kids and grandkids being home to show you how. With the great postal system we have, you never even have to ...

Re: ARE THEY NUTS?

Read up on the Spanish Flu, Bob. It really wasn’t Spanish, they think it originated in China. They still don5 really know how many millions died from it. Poo poo it at your own peril. No crowds for me until it dies down.

Re: Temporary closing

A clean shop is the sign of a sick mind. When presented with his Menlo Park invention factory recreation, Tom Edison told Ford, it was close, but not nearly as messy.

Re: Substituting for a part: Is there a metallurgist in the room?

Chinese metallurgy is a crapshoot at best, IMHO. If I was in a hurry, I’d use the end of a drill that is snug ( drill rod) and still sleep at night. Grandpa would use a nail and sleep good at night, too.
