Aren’t the contacts in the original Ford coil boxes made from phosphor bronze? I know the repop ones are copper plated steel and loose their springiness.

I was at a tire shop for big trucks and saw this display. I was talking to the man behind the counter about it and beads in Model T tires (I’ve never tried them) and he said that NASCAR uses powder to balance their tires.

I bought this one about 7 years ago, 30X3. It’s the same height as the 30X3 1/2 Firestones, 30 1/2” tall. The Firestone is bald is why it’s a little shorter.

I guess the cast iron ones must have came out some time before 1919, sometime in 1918 maybe, because there is a single choke arm version in cast iron. I’d think that the factory would keep the body and top made from the same materials but I’ve seen all sorts of combinations. You never know what was changed by owners through the years or maybe they came that way during the transition from brass to steel. I’m sure they just wanted it to run regardle...

Here are a few more pictures. This was a complete 1915 Rubes horn set up. I used it on my 14 with a 14 horn and eliminated the elbow but the rest is the same. The reed screws into the tubing coming out of the bracket.

Here are some pictures of a chassis I bought several years ago somebody put A wheels on. They used A hubs in the front as well. It had a motor on it so I guess they drove it with that set up. They wouldn’t have made it much farther because the rear axle nut is cracked.

The speedometer on my 14 reads fast as well. It has the correct gearing for a Stewart Model 100. If you put a different gear to make the chain spin slower then it seems like it would mess up the odometer reading, or at least in my case I think the problem is with the speedometer head. I had a screw break last fall. To remove it I drilled into the center of the screw with an 1/8” bit from the bottom to relieve the pressure from peining, then grabbed the shank with vice grips and unscrewed it.

I bought one of those to find out what was inside. It seems to run ok but I didn’t run it for enough to check the mileage claims. The venturi slides up and down, I suppose it acts as an air valve like the flapper or balls in a Kingston.

This one came out of a 1914 transmission. It has no Ford script anywhere, I thought there was a DB but there’s not. The flywheel was marked Dodge Bros. I guess is why I thought that.

I left off one measurement. It’s 3/4” on either side of the base to the inside radius and that 27/32 should probably be 7/8.

I’ve got 2, one with a Simmons tag and the other with a tag Made for Western Auto by Simmons. The one with the plain Simmons tag doesn’t have patent dates cast into the body. Decals were long gone when I got them.

John, carburetor is sold, I got an email yesterday but it went to spam and just realized it today. Sorry about that. I had silver soldered that crack from the inside and a little bled through i suppose. I’ve got another if you’re interested. I’ve ran it off and on for a couple months.

Those pins are often broken off. Somebody removed them from one side.

The problem with the fitting isn’t so much will it seal if you tighten it as it is will it be positioned for the fuel line to fit. Cast iron will break if you over tighten a fitting into it but you can cut the threads a little deeper with an 1/8” pipe thread tap carefully so that it will screw in th...

I’d like to see a section, maybe not necessarily a forum style, but a place with factory photos divided by year. Whenever somebody has a factory photo they could upload it with a caption. I like period photos but I like the factory photos to see what is on a particular model when new. I know people ...
