Re: Enclosed Trailer Winch Questions

Tim, +1 on the HF 5000lb. I picked up the winch, mounting plate, hitch adapter, AND the accessory remote, ALL for 25% off. You won't need all that but so far it all looks and works as it should. I have a 2500 lb. HF winch and it's really too small. It'll do the job but it sure isn't happy. So, we de...

Re: Model T delivery truck at first show in Pt Lincoln South Australia

Johnny,

Did you post this beautiful truck in the Parts for Sale section on purpose or by mistake? Just asking. I don't think you are planning on parting it out are you?

Re: The Adventures of Kalamity Dick - Fact or Fiction?

Not to change the direction of the thread but to add a comment on an earlier part. With the forum problems, I could NOT get this to post when it was appropriate. Funny Raoul mentioned the James Bond movie. I'll bet you didn't know uncle Rasmus was actually in that movie. Remember the guy the heroine...

Gentlemen,

It's like an old rock and roll record; you have to play it backward to get the REAL meaning out of it.

Re: What Have You Done To Your T In January?

Went out and knocked off 11" of snow off her tent garage roof yesterday. I also wrote down the numbers on her distributor. That was a pleasant surprise. She has the desired Bosch VW distributor. I will need to go through that when I rebuild the engine. Working a lot of overtime so I have the money b...

Bob, Do you know what the proper proportions measure? Something like the measurement from the crown to the edge of the brim, the overall height of the crown, and the width of the crown hatband? I see the Amish style straw hats and I agree they are very nice but do not look like the old time straw ha...

Re: battery cable connection

Gentlemen, Please remember the battery post AND the connectors are LEAD. They bend very easily. If you face a situation where the bolt will not tighten the connector enough, remove the bolt, place an adjustable wrench on the widest portion of the connector to prevent it from spreading during the nex...

Re: Old photo Short T

Does anyone know, or can anyone tell me what that "box" is, between the transmission and rear end, between the rear radius rods?

Looks like it could be counterweight maybe? Some sort of traction weight? I can't make any more sense out of it than that.

Thank You,
Terry

I am FAR from being an authority on adult beverages of the time. But, isn't that the rarest of the 1/2 gallon bottles of Happy Sally? I am under the impression that Happy Sally was almost exclusively bottled in 1 and 5 gallon jugs. Bartenders, like Ernie, all knew Happy Sally drinkers liked their ch...

Re: I'll take a model T on the rocks, please

Jeff, I'll take the first shot at this one. Two wheel drive vehicles are actually ONE wheel drive. Four wheel drives are actually TWO wheel drives. Due to the differentials in the axles, when one wheel slips the other drives. In the case of a T, when one wheel stops, the other slips. That's why "pos...

Re: It's time to STOP RESTORING, and START PRESERVING the remaining good original cars that are left...

The question as to "why" must be considered. I believe preservation is important to the majority of this forum due to the fact most of us are older and understand the need. Consider the newest generation where the majority of them do not even want a driver's license. They have little to no interest ...

This is from Dave himself. "I have 4 model Ts, one of which was restored 40 years ago, all of them need work. I am taking time off from selling and the forum in order to work on these cars." Seems like he's in good health and feeling like he needs to spend more time doing "homework". I believe, ever...

Re: Rear wheel nut torque

So, if my calculations are anywhere near correct, using this wrench, a person would need to push with just over 45 lb. of pressure on the end of the wrench, to get 70 lb/ft of torque on the axle nut. Seems logical. But, if a person really leaned on the wrench, with his body weight, you could get wel...

The above explanations are correct but do not address the difference between the names: watts versus volt-amps. I was taught that watts are a measure of pure DC voltage and amperage. While volt-amps are a measure of AC voltage and amperage. Often, you will not have a pure DC voltage. It will be unre...

Now I know why I always got that eerie feeling of being watched when we stopped in Rawlins for gas and restrooms, late at night. It hasn't been posted as to where that prison was located. Must have been an upscale jailbird house as the men are wearing suit vests, ties, and have pocket watches, with chains. Most prisons I know about, do not allow watches and/or chains. But then again, this prison was long before the modern pen...

TTtom,

Texas T parts is selling kits. They are not on their website but they are advertised in the Vintage Ford Magazine. Contact them and see what they have to say. I have not talked to them or seen the actual product. I have seen the advertisement.

Good Luck,
