Re: Unrestored 1909 Model T auction ending 6/17/23
In my opinion, you kind of needed to buy both packages but $37k put it out of the realm of reason when you consider what you “might” find in the end. I am aware of two other early open valve T projects that are much more complete, correct, and sorted out at a price substantially less than this combo...

There was a pattern that looked like an N waterpump laying on the seat as mentioned before. Hood was off car but the car and hood looked pretty sound. I am no authority but seemed like a nice car at a decent price for an N.

I attended the auction yesterday. Incredible amount of NOS Ford items including full sets of fenders still in the Ford shipping crates, predominantly Model A and 32 Ford. Very well attended. The 1909 car did have an early block, September 1909 I believe. It had a 2 piece pan and later hogshead. Spin...

Mark, you are right. That thread chaser does chase the hub threads, not the axle threads. The tool I mentioned does the hubcap threads just like the Stevens tool but it can do much more than that in terms of diameters and thread counts/pitches. Very versatile old tool.

Re: Initial carburetor setting for starting car for the first time
My personal experience that’s been that 3/4 to 1 turn open is seems to work well on a brand new start up as long as everything has been set up right. I have found that 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 seems to be too rich for a start up for my rebuilds. I used to set them that way but found that just a 1/4 to 1/2 tur...

Re: High Volume Intake Manifold
I have a couple of cars that I always hand crank even though they are fitted with electric starters. They have the high volume Chaffins intakes and NH carbs. 2-3 priming cranks and they pop right off. If cold ( below 35degrees F.)I enrich the mixture 1/4 turn and it works real well. Wanted- 1911 Heinze coils
I know this may be a long shot but here goes: Does anyone have a set of 4 or 5 restored Heinze coils that they would part with. I have a nice original coilbox but no coils for it. Thanks, Mike

Robbie,
I would make sense. I have folks looking for them all the time but all I have is this one very good left. Takes 5 to make a nice set.
