I don't know how accurate it was, but I once read that there was a movement in the 1890's to close the U.S. Patent Office. The argument of the proponents of this plan was simply, "After all, everything that can be invented already has been invented."

Re: Muncie question

Very interesting. I have a TT with a Muncie, but it's the more traditional under/direct/over/reverse set up. Being a TT guy, I can't help but wonder - If you install this super under/under/direct Muncie in a TT with low speed rear end gears and a Ruckstell, then set it in Ford low/Muncie super under...

Re: 1912 Pie Wagon

My dad's father owned and operated a French bread bakery in San Jose, CA from 1920 until 1952. He had 2 or 3 "pie wagons" to deliver bread with in the '20's. I don't know if they were brass era cars or black era cars. In about 1925 my dad, age 5 at the time, was riding in one with his dad. The old m...

This is a really old photo (circa 11955) but it shows the bed on what's now my TT. At that time it was in use as a ranch truck and we did all manner of work with it. If you're interested, the fellow on the left is my grandfather and the boy on the right is my cousin. The bed surface area measures 5'...

Why nobody posts, "Bad ideas Needed":

1. Because we encounter an abundance of them in the news every day.
2. Because we all have kids and grandkids with an abundant supply.
3. Because every time we drive a car the evidence of abundant bad ideas is all around us.

Should I go on?

I'd very much like to have my 2 watches "serviced". I'm not sure either of them is running right now. I know you're about as far away as you can be form me and still be in the continental US, but where do I look for a reliable person to do such work?

I do not know the first thing about pocket watches, but I have 2 that I'll keep until I die. One is a 7 jewel Elgin that belonged to my maternal grandfather. IMHO attempting to use the e-brake as a service brake is attempting to get it to do something it was not designed to do and therefore is asking for trouble. I agree with Norm. Aux. brakes are the best answer. If you're gonna speed it up you need to put at least as much energy in slowing it down. Any...

I forgot to actually respond to your issue. In your procedure you do not mention where you have the throttle set. I'd try different throttle settings and see if that will make warm starts easier.

Re: General advice for warmstarting by handcrank

I'm not so sure there is a "right" approach. Each one seems to have it's own ideocracies, Mine (a '23 engine, non-starter, 12V system) seems to like it when I retard the spark, give it about half throttle, give it 2 revolutions with the switch off and the chock pulled, then switch on battery. A 1/4 ...

That's a really net looking rig. Why do each of them have 3 axles with one in the center? For that matter, why are the center wheels larger than the others? Seems odd to me but I suppose there was a good reason at the time.
