I drive about 80-100 miles a week in the city of Rochester. I often come out from work and find people sitting in my car for pictures. Re: Could it be the Oil ?!
Duey, no, my drive train is in very good condition, very little slop and no roll back after breaking. This is why I was so resistant to the concept that the chatter was being caused by mechanical problems in the rear axle or the short shaft. I went through everything when I rebuilt the car because I...

Right .... thanks. Indid see that but for some reason missed the last part about the air bleed. Nevertheless ... is there an original instruction sheet or vintage book with this information?

U & J adjustment
Got back from a work trip in Sicily on Tuesday. While I was gone a forum member sent me the correct manifold for the U & J carburetor that was recently rebuilt by Stan Howe. Now I’m ready for installation. I know that there is essentially one adjustment, the needle valve on the bottom but I also see...

From what I’ve seen in vintage seats there are two basic options: either screw a wood tacking strip along the edges or affix snap receivers along the edge that hold snaps in the seat covering.

All of the above and one more thing for me. When I drive a model T (which I do nearly every day) I am fully engaged with what I’m doing. Living “in the moment” is difficult in these times with the stresses of work and ... the news regardless of what fence you’re on. When I’m in the T the world and i...

I’ve been thinking of trying some corked linings for months. My kevlar lined bands often chatter at the very end of braking and thought it might help. So I’m anxious to hear your experience with them once you start driving with installed.

Re: Do you register your old plates?
No problem in New York state with re-registering a set of original plates that are the year of your car as long as you have both front and back and the numbers match. Mine are kinda dirty so the colors aren’t very strong, but I’m ok with that. By the way, if you need a vintage Al Smith plate, I have...

Re: I gonna try to drive smarter
I always like tweaking the spark and carburetor needle for best performance as I’m driving. When I had a straight through NH in the car I used an accessory rod with a universal joint that allowed adjusting the carb needle from the dash board. I’m currently running a Stromberg OF carburetor which has...

We are staying in a Agritourisma near the small town of Castelbuomo. This is about 1 1/2 hours from Palermo. I had the very same Ford model F carburetor on my ‘23 runabout when I bought it. I believe the story goes that Ford got into making these to keep up with demand during that period. Very much like an NH.

All of those were shot with black and white panchromatic sheet film. That was actually available in 1919 but Steve is right that much of the film in that era was ortho chromatic or not sensitive to red. But actually most people wouldn’t know the difference. The thing about the first image I posted i...

Depending on the look of the entire car, some people like a very shiny brass / bronze carburetor and others prefer the dark brown that comes from time and use. So when carburetors are polished, what is generally used to keep them shiny ... spray lacquer?

Received my U&J carburetor rebuilt by Stan Howe this afternoon. It looks great and I’m anxious to “give it the gas.” Stan has said he is slowing down in his rebuilding business and I’m thankful he was able to complete mine before hangs up the towel.
