Re: Anything Modern To Help??
Like Adam mentioned, once you get the “knack", the 21” drop center wire wheel tires are nearly as easy as changing bicycle tires and can be changed with your hands and a little help from a tire iron.

Re: Old Photo-Air driven car
One of the things I remember learning (or maybe just hearing) years ago is that generally when we use fossil fuel to generate electricity 1/3 of the power consumed goes out the exhaust, 1/3 is lost in transmission resistance, and 1/3 is delivered to the user. If that's even partially true it would ...

Re: Antique car registration cost in AZ?
Arizona has implemented a new tax called the “Public Safety Fee” at $32. per vehicle. My registration fee for my 1926 Runabout used to be $19.50 + $10. for the special copper plate. ($29.50) This year it was $62.00.

Re: 1927 Ford Model T with Ruckstell
You don’t need Rocky Mtn brakes. They can be very dangerous if you kill the engine on an incline and it starts rolling backwards. They are self energizing going forward only. This works against you in reverse. I live in a hilly area and my Rocky Mountain brakes with a little help from the transmiss...

Re: 1927 Ford Model T with Ruckstell
I purchased my 1926 Runabout for $10,000. a little over two years ago. It was an older restoration in good running condition very similar to the one in question. I installed a Ruckstell axle and a speedometer. I currently value it at around $12,000.

If you do purchase it, you may want to consider the addition of Rocky Mountain Brakes in the event you lose mechanical connection with the foot operated transmission brake.

After searching for a 1926/’27 fan at Bakersfield. (The one I did find was cracked.) I ordered a new reproduction fan from Snyders. Very pleased with the quality of the reproduction fan. It is well made and looks exactly like the original. The holes lined up perfectly. It even comes black powder coa...

Steve, thanks “for nudging my memory” as well. Yes, boiler water chemical treatment and pH control is very important along with blowdown to control total dissolved solids. This got me to thinking maybe I need to run a pH test on the T’s coolant.

Re: Drain antifreeze and replace with distilled water for summer?
I am not a water chemist, however, while working in steam turbine power plants, “distilled” water was critical. Feed water to the boilers had to be carefully monitored, pure condensate was recovered from the condensers and make up water from demineralizers or in one case a desalination plant. Oxygen...

Tim, I attached my Ford script with .025” diameter annealed brass wire as per Ruxtel24 Dave. I used brass wire instead of stainless. (What I had on hand.) No need to solder. Stainless or brass wire your choice.

Ford T isn’t the only one to have that type of oil check arrangement. Dad’s 1949 International Farmall “C” had two valves on the side of the oil pan to check the level by drip. The major difference is one could stand while checking the oil.

The TV telemarketers and even Amazon offers “Free Shipping”. I guess they have a special pricing arrangement with those shippers. Rich, thanks for the interesting information regarding the “Earl Automobile Works”. It would be interesting to know the timeline on this 1914 Renault. With the order and build time taken into consideration, it was probably completed later than 1914. Another thing to bear in mind, Arbuckle commission...

As always, amazed by your paintings. Nice old “mustache" Buick. :) We used to have one of those ’48/'49 aluminum license plates with the butter on the baked potato tacked to the wall of our barn in Rupert. If I am not mistaken, I believe those plates were issued for 2 years via replacing the year tag.

After a little more digging, I have answered my own question. From the Old Motor site, it appears this is an early Harley Earl creation based on a 1914 Renault for Fatty Arbuckle. How it ended up in this movie is a bit of a mystery. http://theoldmotor.com/?p=135425

I would disagree. I feel that most environmentalism these days is deregulation and relaxing the rules that the EPA uses to regulate business. This allows business to save money by polluting more. Maybe it should be called reverse environmentalism. Ask anyone who works at a coal fired power plant or...
