Re: My T is a Halloween candy dispenser when cranked.
Old and young really had fun with the candy dispenser. Many thought cranking it actually had something to do with the candy coming out :D Of course it was me tossing candy down the tube. One father was telling his kids about how cars were so much better back then, “You just had to crank them up.” He...

Re: Run engine stand that rotates- want to see what you have before I build mine
I appreciate everyone’s feedback. Charlie, I agree that an engine stand that attaches to the block and holds it vertically is ideal for assembling an engine. The idea here is a run engine stand that rotates. I was wanting to build a run engine stand that is versatile. Mike that sounds like a good id...

Well, I would say the hand brake does exactly what you are looking for.
1. Pull it all the way back for brake.
2. Halfway is neutral. In neutral you can press clutch for low gear.
3. Push forward for high gear (or neutral or low gear depending on where you push the pedal.

I appreciate everyone comments. I can see the advantages of using an engine stand modified for a Model T. I can also see how a nice run stand is useful if a car is not available to test the engine. My main purpose for this engine stand would be when I find a spare engine that hasn’t been ran for a l...

With the queen’s passing I found that her birthdate was April 21st, 1926. My cars engine is from April 15! If I understand things the car would’ve been built shortly after the engine was stamped. Hi Matt, Interesting idea. Scott is correct 3/4 of the weight of a T engine is above the center line of the crank so if that is the pivot point it will want to flip head down so there will need to be some way to control the rotation. I have seen something like that in picture at the assembly plant?...

Re: Run engine stand that rotates- want to see what you have before I build mine
How would you use the radiator with the engine upside down and how would the gravity oil and fuel work. You could only do adjustments by rotating the engine, but it could only be run with it right side up. So the one in the picture looks like it would be fine for running the engine. Norm Norm to an...

I have an idea for building a run engine stand that would rotate around the front engine mount using a old engine frame. Yes Kevin I was there! I would say there was a ton of stuff, but mostly common and not in great shape. For example a stack of fenders, but all were rusted through and the same with most gas tanks... Jim,
Yes, the points could need cleaning.
I have some coil that appeared to be NOS from the 1960s. I cleaned up the points and they fired away. (These didn't have the capacitor changed, so that was another project. But if your coil were rebuilt recently that should not be a issue.)

Re: A new DIY electronic coil tester.
Neil, If I understand your response, you know that the point of fire (i.e. time-to-fire) decreases with an increase to RPM. The increase time-to-fire is because the voltage out of the magneto increases with RPM. The point of sharing the response of different coils to with varying voltage pulses is t...

Interesting comment Neil!
If I understand you correctly, you use a method of tuning coils where you can adjust a set of coils to all fire in perfect synchronization from 500 to 2500 RPM.

Wow! Great job on the box! I like the vintage look. Interesting way to make the extension on the switches. Alternatively, you could add wires to push buttons.
I am sure if you were willing to make more of those boxes, people would be interested me being the first!
