I welded up 1/4" holes in a couple of my rims where someone thought that 1/4" carriage bolts would make a better rivet. They are at Calimer's wheel shop now getting new wood felloes & spokes. Darryl

These models are made in Ukraine. Some American hobby dealers may have some of these and their other fine Model T kits in stock, but I wonder if they will ever be restocked because of the war.

How do I fix this, really depends on what tools you have, and your skill level. The BEST way is to replace the panel. Next best would be to hammer & dolly the area flat. Then trim the openings for repair patches to be butt welded into place. Then metal finish. Third & worst, glue or pop rivet a patc...

Yes you need the fiber washers between the base and the nut. The type you have is easy to take apart to check the contacts. They get pitted over time, and can be cleaned up to make better contact. Darryl

We had about two inches a couple Saturdays ago, in North Carolina. The post office did not deliver mail. they did deliver the next day though. Snow doesn't hang around to long here.

OK, I have salvaged pre 1945 steel from the ocean. I bring it to the surface, transport it to a steel foundry, and melt it into ingots. The story goes that if I make new steel it will be contaminated by the radio active particles in the air. Why will this not happen to the salvaged steel ? I call BS...

Mark, Ford may have at one time told owners to use the 5-z-161 wrench. The '26 parts catalog clearly lists the T-2839 as the wire wheel lug nut wrench. I have one as well, with no sign of any plating.

William, You are looking for the wrong wrench. The 5-z-161 is a body bracket t handle wrench. You are looking for a part number 2891, factory number 2839 wire wheel wrench. This is happening all over. Old mom & Pop restaurants are closing because the owners want to retire, and no one wants to take over or purchase the business. It is sad. I would much rather eat at a local diner than some chain. Best of luck to the two of them, they deserve to kick back a notch.

Soda blasted parts must be thoroughly washed with lacquer thinner or a mild acid, or your primer/ paint will not stick.

John, That was the ticket ! I found a booklet by that title on T- Bay, dated 1934. So this must be a early V8 tool.

The gauge is.025, the tool itself says Champion on it. Not sure if these were made for Ford, OR sold through Ford dealers, OR given away when you bought Champions at a Ford dealer.

Found a little info on Buckeye jack manufacturing. Founded in 1904 in Louisville OH. Moved to Alliance OH in early 1910. Struggled through the depression, closed in 1934. This may help to date the early jacks with Louisville on them.

Just found a Buckeye jack and have two items of interest. One is that while cleaning it up, I found traces of silver paint. Not enough to tell if it was a metallic paint like our aluminum spray cans of today, or something with a lot of lead in it to make the silver shade, but it was indeed silver. T...
