I recall hearing of the trips KD and the mob took up Mount Stinkmore at Christmas time. They drove as far as they could, and then snowshoed to where the antelope were prancing and accompanied them on kazoos. The cavlivity was heard for miles into the night. So many recall the fond memories. I can al...

Joy said all she wanted for Christmas was a Model T ride. What a Gal! It's a bit tougher getting in and out of one for us now. Condensation and low fuel level left the Tudor unstartable. I often use Amsoil Synthetic R&O, AW gear and bearing oil ISO-680 (RPC). It is thick but flows well. I bought it to use in my Warford and use it in T rear ends as well as my '23 White trans and rear end. I like it but also use Pennz 10-30 sometimes.

Glendo was a frequent stop for KD. He retuned some of the local guilderflukes there and also Dr. Samguafen's clavichord. Nephew Nimrod told the story of the moose that tipped over KD's runabout. There are several gaskets and lots of tools and equipment to ponder. I have saved head gaskets by putting them in water and freezing. A plastic bag outside in the winter will do it. The moisture expands the asbestos for another application.

In the first photo, the windshield appears to be '23-'25 but has hinges from an earlier one. Very unusual and a lot of work. Also, the occupants are sitting low in the seat suggesting well-worn seat springs. The mounting of the coil on the dash (firewall) is interesting too.

Play can be cumulative. The link in the throttle hole, the spark arm hole and the tightness of the arm to the throttle rod all ad to the slop. Also the fit of the butterfly shaft in the carburetor are all suspect. I had looseness in all those places and very little travel until I attended to it.

Re: Fitting a Model A camshaft to a Model T
I machined an A camshaft to fit a T block. I simply machined the cam bearing journals (correction) to about 1" diameter and machined the front for a T cam gear. It took some wiggling and turning to get the cams to go through the bearing holes in the block, but it worked.

The British delegation was awarded the "Hard Haunches" trophy by Chairman Clifton Rumpsfield. The County Seat agreed, and a banquet was throne for them.

Just for reference, here is the repro molding that was available when I did mt '14 at right and some half oval from a brass dealer that I used on my '09. Molding.jpg This was available from Lang's later. It has the curved top. Molding2.jpg All are 3/4 as mentioned earlier. The pictures are for those...

The current Ken Burns "The American Buffalo'" documentary got me thinking about the VMCCA Buffalo Nickel we helped put on. There were several Ts that participated in it. Wow! Thanks for all the information. If I don't need the flares, then I will probably not make any. It might be a fun project anyhow. I thought I saw flares on some restored '09s. I appreciate the efforts. The Model T Ford Restoration Handbook by Clymer shows the flared ones. Rereading it does list ...

Dimensions needed for 1909 E&J 2-teir lens flare
T am thinking of making a couple lens flairs to make my 1909 T more correct. I have good photos but would like to know the exact dimensions of the outside diameter and the distance the flare extends from the door it attaches to. I think the parts and photos can give me the rest. If anyone can tell m...

After posting this, I realized the top braces of the doors were out of perspective. I change the angles and darkened the doors some. Some of the competitors resorted to dirty tricks to stay ahead. One fellow would stick boards vertically in the rungs of a cattle guard. We approached one racer who had stopped, removed the boards, drove through and then replaced the boards for the next vehicle. As they took off, they looked back to...

I had the pleasure of riding in Red Ladner's Brush in the '80s for half a day (St. George, Utah). It was much slower than the other 1&2 cyl cars. We came across a high Wheeler that would not run after the trouble truck had gone by. Red towed it in with the Brush which had more than enough power to d...

Round, slotted wood screws is all I have ever seen there. I believe the red circle shows one remaining one in this panel. There should be 4 holes in both panels to be joined. They are mostly covered by the rear fender and only part of the top one will show.

My free starts are only on engines with a lot of miles and turn freely. They have newer rings and fair compression. My rebuilds won't do that.

Speaking of stockings, one of KD's fond friends was Tweedle Dee. He had helped Dick finance the satire compressor/confabulator. That's a good plan Mark. You drive many miles to wear them that much. I bought new T-drivers for my '09. 3 for the front and 3 for the rear and I can rotate them. I now have wheels for the extra tires. I don't carry a spare and haven't had a flat yet. Much of the tread is gone and I have to think ab...

Joe, thanks for the comment. :D As for newer Firestones, I went through two sets in the 70s and 80s that sild on the rims and sheared off the valve stems. It rim-cut them so they are not suitable for highway driving. I hadn't ever used flaps but started to on my third set and had no further problems...

My Racer – old 28 – 1971-1982
The Movie “The Great Race” and the building of my yellow Speedster gave rise to the idea for some of the club members to build racers and compete on the dirt roads and trails in the hills East of Idaho Falls. I had accumulated enough parts to build one rather than tear up my Speedster. A year or so ...

I have probably talked too much about the old Firestones that I still drive on when I can keep the tubes full of air. Today I ran across the receipt for them in 1964.
