Re: Early Red T in Natural History Museum in Los Angeles
Thanks for the info, Pete E. I'm glad you get to see those. My wife reminded me when I mentioned you post today, about the 80's 1 & 2 cylinder tour where your Father and Uncle had their Buicks. They watched as another, much younger owner was trying to start his Buick without luck. One brother finall...

Here is another photo of the LA Welch that appeared in the HCCA Gazette Vol. 41, No. 6 (1976). I sent it to Harry along with James Z's address etc. from 2019 roster. It mentions H. H. Sometimes the best part of an old movie is the old car parts that creep into them. At lower left is a 4-dip pan. Perhaps a mag ring or coil tester is left of it. It doesn't look home made to me. Accessory or off some other make.
Maxwell used this one in 1915 and later. I'm sure other makes did also. Having a preset range would be handy. Not having to reach under the dash would be nice too.

In answer to Herb's question, KD did build his well-used truck shown here and so many other places. It caried a similar conglomeration of tools and testing equipment. The first photo (1915) shows a 1914 T from the wide crossmember and rivets in rear end.
The second would be 1909 or 1910 by the buggy rail and butterfly rear fender bracket. Lamps and acetylene generator still look OK.

He says he also has the carbide generator, oval gas tank and trunk, along with a monocle windshield frame also.

Sometimes it's nice to have a lazy day out in the shop without urgent projects. Today I rearranged the clutter a bit. lazy2.jpg The lighting on the Coupe reminded me of how bad the body panels were. I can't imagine trying to get them straight enough for black paint. lazy1.jpg I cleaned a few parts i...

Here is a look at what some wore fishing in Yellowstone and some just dressed casually. Grampa on the right.

I have no idea where this is located. Left hand drive might be a clue. I snagged the photo from the AACA site.

I agree that there is no chain drive happening. The rear end is larger than Ford so probably from another kind of truck. I see the running board supports so I must be a stock frame with an extension.

The bus at right is a 1913 Autobus De Dion Bouton I believe. The other bus radiator doesn't have sharp corners like most Packards. I'm not convinced but can't say what else it might be. Here is another '13 NY bus:

I dug the box of my Model S model out again today. Here are some more pictures of it. It is 1/12th scale. I had my fun out of it far before completion but the study of it was enormous satisfaction. Models tent to bounce around and disassemble. Dust and stains have taken their toll but it's fun to di...

Speaking of wreckers, this was the boom on my YPC Bus when I bought it. It was not included in the purchase. I felt good enough to do some work in the shop after my 2-week health break. The spare tire on the Coupe had lost air so I put on a good one. I left my reflector bar off as it makes changing tires more time consuming. These Riversides I got from Rich B. in the '60s are great spares. I wouldn't buy w...

The rust and yellow paint reminds me of the Buck Rake I bought as parts for my YPC Bus. Several surplus Busses were sold and converted to Buck Rakes by traveling craftsmen near the Dillon, MT. A boom was made to lift from the rear and steering and seating was turned and moved back. The frame was sho...

While the restoration was a nice try, the truck was so inviting in the ambiance of Joe's old barn while it was rusty and charming. The smell of that era Liquid Wrench, oil and gas and dirt floor seemed warm and cozy. He did get it running and had his fun with it. I don't know why I find "before" muc...

That was a Nash Quad. Larry P. gave it to Joe and John and I helped break it loose from the ice and Joe took it home. He played with it until Bud C.'s father-in-law claimed it was one of two their family bought brand new. They restored it and drove it some until someone left water in it over the win...

What fun is 3-D? That is a wonderful depiction for the information he was able to find. It is coming from the realm of the mod...

Not to be confused with the "Power Plus" Duo. Friedrick Carter, inventor of the Carter Pin patterned after the "Bobbie Pin", is shown here riding KD around the plant.
