fabricated bed is nothing out of the norm, and with a little thought, could be done to look period

Re: “….reeking of popcorn and lollipops” W. C. Fields
Found this little hoodlum out terrorizing the streets with his mother in tow. He was bursting at the seams with excitement over the old truck, so I told him to climb up inside. I was quite amazed at how close to accurate he was in explaining to his mother how the pedals and levers worked. I don't th...

400 pages deep into recounting and discovering KD's life and no one has mentioned how he paid for it all. Funkbunkler's Business Directory first lists KD's vestibule business in the 1913 edition. By 1915, through his numerous design patents, the business had secured a solid 39% market share in both ...

Very good points, including those I might personally disagree with. I come from a hobby start in the post-war car scene, and as others posted above, it gets to a point where seeing an original car is a real gem, to be awed by and cherished. I feel much more strongly about preserving or going to extr...

Coatings are a large part of my business, with a heavy emphasis on restoration/ preservation/old look kind of work. I am assuming this body in question is wood. Several suggestions above regarding penetrating oils are good for durability and and water repulsion. You want the material absorbed into t...

Duke was also a champion ice picker fighter. Taking the State championship
5 times over 7 years. He supplemented his income throughout his life, operating
an ice pick fighters studio 3 doors down from Ernie's. His legacy in the sport is

This might be totally impractical, but in Model T days, many people lived outside the service areas of local telephone providers. A common practice was for such folks to build their own line in from their remote location to a point where the desired provider would hook the private line into their ex...

Period newspapers report Tex was also affected by a heavy bout of mushroom
gas at the time of the incident. Upon being shot, he exploded in a cloud of foul
(fowl?) unpleasantitude, leaving little behind but feathers blowing down the street.

Maintained and fixed as needed, all original, never restored. AFAIK, never allowed
to go to seed/on the road since new. Used and abused whenever possible.

In an early log entry, Kalamity noted stopping in Rawlins BECAUSE of gas and mushrooms.
The proliferation of mushroom stands along the routes leading into Rawlins were an offshoot
of the feathered chaps industry, according to county records.

Re: Plug wires for purists . . . a rambling post
Most of us weren't alive to know the pre-WW2 America, but a few of us saw those lingering tidbits and became intrigued, and we ended up the crazy "old stuff" collector people on our streets today. I too am interested in what is an actual "correct" wire or whatever, to whatever the subject might be, ...

So, to walk this out a little further .... if some guy appeared, seriously claiming to be Jesus or from outer space or an oracle of Godly divinity, he'd be considered a loon, or these days "mentally ill". But if he tells you he's a woman, you can be sued for not accepting his story .... Hmmm .... I ...

Re: My first exposure to a Model T
A TT flatbed sitting in quiet repose in a neighbor's barn was a repeated source of fun for me (and friends) to play on when we were little. There were others around in crumbling condition behind barns and out in the woods, but this one was probably only needing air in the tires to be ready to help w...
