Why would they loan money to a responsible borrower who shows very little risk of default…? Or worse yet… will pay the loan off early!!! How will they make money then…? The secret to success is collecting fees and late penalties, then charging for the repo and sticking the borrower with the debt eve...

I’ve been warning about this and similar “conspiratorial” type modern car paranoias for as long as I can remember. My dad ran a Volvo 4 speed behind his Fronty powered speedster for 20+ years. The first 15 years or so was behind the full T trans. The low pedal gear reduction and extra flywheel mass of the T trans would easily strip the teeth off of any gear set in the Volvo. After several gear sets, he pulled al...

Those detents are stout! You will need to clamp the shift fork or housing in a vice, and use a crescent wrench for leverage to toggle the throwout collar. If you can not get the collar to toggle over, ensure that the plunger is free by using a screwdriver to pry the plunger back

Allen E36 Magnetizer

Here is a functional Allen E36 Magnetizer. I’m not going to make any claims as to it’s specific use, but it connects to a 6 volt battery and will magnetically charge at the push of a button. Could use some new cables, but otherwise in very good condition. $500 plus shipping F4814421-F7C0-4C65-BE8A-7...

Re: Tire Curiosity

Once upon a time, it was not that uncommon to re-rim a set of wheels to accept more available tire sizes. Similar to the recent 30x3-1/2” white tire availability issues, obscure tire sizes are made in occasional batches and may be several years (or more) between batches

Re: 26 27 wire spoke wheels on a 25

The wire wheels were introduced in ‘25, and so there were small drum wire wheel drums originally. The correct wire wheel hubs are a first choice for mounting these wheels, and I would recommend you peruse this path. There are adapters available, but do not support the wheels as originally designed. ...

Re: Differential case repair questions.

The early housings had a bushing of adequate wall thickness. Later housings may lack adequate material thickness to accept a bushing without sacrificing strength. I have repaired several Ruxtell carrier housings by boring out slightly (approximately .040”, brazing up the bore, and re-machining to pr...

Re: Blockley Tires

Vintage Rims New Zealand is the primary supplier for Coker Tire in recent times, and I’m assuming most other US availability as well. American Vintage Rims has not been on the map for at least a few years. John McLaren sold the McLaren Wheel business to Mike Lebsack 5-10 years ago

Vintage Rims New Zealand has been a quality source for many years. I have used several dozen of their rims and they are of fantastic quality. As I understand, these are the only rims available thru our US vendors at the moment. Vintage Rims Australia popped up on my radar bout 5 years ago, but have ...

Most (if not all) bronze alloys are “continuous cast” rather than extruded or cold worked. So will have a very rough surface and will be dimensionally oversized. Typical profiles are limited to rectangle and round. Don’t let the material profile availability limit your choices. Make the parts from t...

Re: Water… pumping…?

With all the festivities behind us, I started lookin at the water bypass fitting. I ordered a couple 1/2” pipe “bungs”, the idea was to connect one to the Fronty manifold with a short piece of hose, and weld the other to the water pump. Wasn’t sure if I would be able to get a 5/8” OD hard line bent ...

Now that’s a pump! Thanks for sharing Duey. I’ve worked on a couple “other” water pumps, and they can be a challenge as many have been pieced together over the years. Yours looks to be in pretty good shape, I wish you a speedy restoration👍
