I’ve run them for many years and many thousands of miles with no problem. They were in fact offered in the T era. They do require a bit of care in final engine assembly. With a babbit version if you are not careful they get wallered out then contribute to crank failure!

I will point out that the width of the tires has only a small effect on the grip. Hydraulic rear drum brakes using’50’s era components have been offered in the recent past. With cast iron brake drums and self adjusters and Bendix design they work really in all driving conditions. The drums are 10”, so they are almost invisible on 26-7 rear axle.

I would seriously consider a electric fan and eliminate all risk to the Livingston radiator.

I am surprised at the lack of “counterweights “ on the crankshaft. It wouldn’t take a lot of machining to accomplish.

A suggestion. Take those panels and get them scanned and then they can be saved to a USB key.

Re: Green Engineering Equipped Racing Engine
My experience with a 5-/16” lift cam in a T flathead engine is that the valves float at about 4200 rpm using T springs. So I imagine that your engine will rev to about 6000 rpm.

I would start by putting a straight edge on the front of the crankshaft pulley and see how it lines up to the fan pulley.

5 main block; I have the patterns for it and a small quantity have been made. You can buy the patterns. I will not be making any more. The spark plug above the piston on a flathead idea was discarded in the late ‘30’s when they realized that a wedge combustion chamber was superior on all designs exc...

Perhaps drain it and then see how much oil it takes to get to the lower petcock. I suspect it will take several GALLONS!

Re: Overhead installation
I had no problems installing the Roof 8 ohv on my 26-7 4 door. Yes I had to install a flexible choke cable and adjusting the mixture was no longer possible from the dash. And yes it needs a fuel pump! The 4 door of course has the fuel tank under the seat (the same as yours). A cowl mounted gas tank ...

I got lucky and found this carb.
It came with a adapter to install a stock T carb. I got lucky and found this carb.

The one I have pictured is staying with oiled multidisc clutches! Borg Warner T35 automatic from a 68 Cortina. Couple of nice features are the air cooled torque converter and a cable kick down. I’ve done a couple of T engines using the T transmission with the flywheel NOT running in the oil. I oil t...

Going with “fork and blade” connecting rods could be advantageous as then the cylinders line up exactly. Just a thought. This could also potentially allow the use of a stock 4 cylinder T camshaft. Just some thoughts

Another option is to buy even bigger ones and then carefully file the ends to get the correct end clearance. I have done this once in the past. Works fine!
