I was able to get this tool from a school who was getting rid of things. I know it is some kind of belt driven grinder, but I am not sure its exact purpose or what tool to use it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John,
That is what I was thinking, but it isn't built quite right to mount on a lathe as is . I have been looking around for a while, and am starting to think it is an ID grinder attachment for for on old Covel grinder. I might make a fixture to adapt it to my lathe.

I have been looking for another T and can't seem to find anything that isn't junk or overpriced in my area. A fellow recently offered me what seems like a fair price on a 23 DB coupe. The car is pretty much original but the engine was rebuilt a few years ago and started up but then they never did anything else with it. I love T's, I generally can...

Thanks

While watching TCM Sunday night silent movie The Boob , saw this 1920's roadster I could not identify. On the AACA forum, it was thought to be a Cole but no proof positive.
In the movie, they ended up running this car through a fence and then crash into the side of a building. The first thing to go was that wonderful motometer. Seems a shame for...

Thanks Rich E. for the photos and additional information. The full size glass plate Shorpy photo is amazing. Learning about the lesser known makes is interesting and fun. :)
Looking at Cole in the Standard Catalog of American Cars book, it appears there were no 6 cylinder engines made after 1915. V8's after that until end of production in 1925....

Leaded fuel is wonderful stuff. It will do no harm in a T, but it isn't needed. Model T engines, whether stock or near stock, run at very low stress and will accommodate low octane fuel quite well. Exhaust valve recession is not an issue with T engines except where the valve doesn't seat properly or is run with too much clearance for a very long...

I intend to use it once I free it up.

This is a brilliant jack to use because you dont need to get down on the floor.
Set the approx height by inserting pin in a hole then slide the jack under the axle, push down on lever until wheel if off the ground and it locks itself down.
To lower the car push the jack handle to the floor, grip the lock lever then lift the handle as the car...

My EMAIL Address. Just bought one of those bronze front wishbone clamp that enables an under-axle wishbone to augment the early and dangerous above axle wishbone. Cost $105 ! But tbay said my email is obligatory. Why ? So they can sell it or send me unwanted ‘specials’?

Regret the delayed response. Nothing significant occurred in Florida. Simply a lot of puffy, dark clouds moving.

The tire on his work wagon looked like this
DSC_0280.JPG
He said none of the local stores had a tire that matched exactly, but he could either get one through amazon and wait 2 weeks (coming from China) or replace all 4 at a cost of $100+. He asked if I had any ideas... I said grab me a couple of pieces of that scrap plywood. This is what I came...

When I was 5 to 7 yrs old, I had a wagon which was built by my grandfather. The wheels were wood with sheet metal wrapped around the diameter which served as a tire. The wagon didn't ride very well, but i didn't know it at a young age,

Pat, I should know the name of that tune! Great jam. Thanks Eric!
I grew up listening to old-time music jam sessions at home a couple times a year. Aunt and uncle along with relatives sometimes, mom on the spoons... Don't disturb the microphone recording it! Aunt Kay had a better voice than Suzy Boggess.
GR, it's too darn fast for square dancing....

I picked up a January 1959 Popular Mechanics magazine at the Lemay Marymount car show and auction today.
Thought this quiz was interesting.
I’ll confirm the correct answer (according to the magazines page 268) if anyone figures it out.

Well, they were correct, it's not a Ford top !
But they sure missed the boat identifying the car !
I hope they did a better job on the fish eggs.

I was impressed by the 1906 Compound car at Harrah's many years ago. It's engine operated one of its cylinders from the force produced by exhaust gases from the two explosive cylinders. The result was a reduction in noise and saving power . That amazed and amused me.

Joy and I saw the Lewis and Clark tour off yesterday. We aren't on it but helped with some planning and the logo. It's mostly 50s thru 90s cars and more miles than we can go. However, it was good to see old friends. Many have Ts and other brass cars also. I thought I would show some here.

Just wondering how everyone along the west coast is doing with this storm. So far, no big problems here in Alpine which is about 30 miles inland from San Diego. Just a very gentle rain but steady for about 15 hours. Some gusty winds but not as strong as our annual Santa Anas. However east of here toward the desert areas they have been having some...

North Carolina is used to a lot of rain and structures are built to handle it, usually. However in the desert areas the entire year rainfall average might be 3 inches, so they have dips in the road where it crosses low places and very few bridges. Then when it rains, they get full of water and cars get stuck. Sometimes the pavement washes out and...

I dug the box of my Model S model out again today. Here are some more pictures of it. It is 1/12th scale. I had my fun out of it far before completion but the study of it was enormous satisfaction. Models tent to bounce around and disassemble. Dust and stains have taken their toll but it's fun to dig the box out and enjoy what's left.
