Pretty cool! Lots of fabrication done back then to fit a purpose. My friend in Arkansas has his dad's original Tudor. His father was the local blacksmith, who had removed the rear body panel & seat to convert it into an open work van to haul all his equipment around.

When I was taking apart my TT Closed Cab after purchase, in the note pad pocket/bin inside the cab I found a 2 1/2 long silver pencil holder/cap & chain with an old pencil stub.. Would be a perfect match for a pencil like yours...

Agree. Just remove tacks or staples at the rear curtain where the straps are tacked (might be staples) by lifting up the top cover. Do same at front bow, and replace each strap at a time.

It takes a while if starting from zero, but does a good job.

No worries - just had my right one done a week ago !

Model T switch tumblers were made from pot metal that often swells and gives problems after the last 100 years.
Add a bit of rust on the steel parts and it gets stiff.
Careful lubrication and working it can sometimes bring it back around, be careful not to break it.

If the tumbler does need replacing it is not a quick / easy job but possible.
And...

All my srater equippef T's run on 6 volt standard systems.
It helps that my son works in the solar power industry and he makes my battery leads, probably a bit on the overkill side.
The biggest problem is purchasing 6 volt, 18 watt festoon bulbs for the indicator lamps I use! I think I now have another lifetime supply in my stash.

Just like last year, the swap meet organizers have arranged for free camping just steps away from the main gate. And, this year I hear they are providing a porta potty outside the main gate too. Thumbs up!

Mike makes perfect sense. There is no need for the dog chasing tail scenario of modification fix a previous modification and then having to repeat same over again. The stuff to do what has been done in the video is all available. There is no need to re-invent the wheel at every step.

I had to temporarily swap a 26 engine in my 23 touring when I wrecked a rod a week before a tour. I had to custom make the floorboards to fit the 23 floor and 26 pedals.

When I think about the remains of T’s from 09-13 that were scrapped during that period of time it makes me cringe. But that’s what happened to early V8’s too.

Looks like a Rootlieb kit to me. Speedsters are worth 7-12K for the most part. Use that as a start to determine value.

On this one, wheels add to value, as does the Ruckstel. Looks like a real nice paint job. Cannot see much else.

In the pre-war section, are the spots large enough to set up display and park your truck. I won’t have a trailer but will have few things that are heavy and would like to display off the back of truck.

If you have access to someone with a TIG welding machine that can be repaired on the car. If you were close I would do it for you. I have a Miller Sychro-Wave SD welder. TIG welding does not produce any spatter, so no worries to surrounding area. That's not a difficult repair in the right hands.

After reading all the responses and thinking back at what I had done, I went out to my shop and carefully unbolted the shifter and pulled it out slowly while trying to see where the fork was in relation to the collar groove. Sure enough! The fork was on the right side of the collar groove. No wonder I only had one gear. Works now...

Mark, see if a local machine shop can hone the lifter bores for you instead of reaming.

Harvey, it is a good idea to re-torque the axle nut after driving the car a bit. I always leave the hubcap off after pulling a wheel to reminds me to do the re-torque.

In 2022, I replaced my 52 year old, 21” “Universal” tires, tubes and flaps (purchased from Mark Auto in 1970) on my 1926 coupe with (5) new 21” “Goodyear” tires, tubes and flaps and they are superb. I could not be happier with them. Good luck.

Why not buy a rebuild kit? Do it yourself, and you will get a feel for what this hobby is all about. For myself, I bought one of Reagans plastic kits.

Early runabouts had a square tank. Look at the picture of the open runabout from the Ford agency on Broadway in NY. The build specs on my ‘10 Touring shows that it was delivered to that Ford agency in March of 1910.

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for, the original builder of my speedster had a metal curved shape built in the shape of a tiger moth cowling.
It just goes back from the normal wood dash and around the sides.

I'm pretty sure that that the covers would retard brass tarnish and greatly reduce reflector tarnishing. Applying and buffing plain Carnauba wax would probably delay brass tarnishing as well as anything, and covering the waxed parts with well-fitting covers would offer further protection by keeping dust, moisture, bird emissions, and busy fingers...

What was the improvement supposed to be with the angled spark plugs. Better combustion chamber performance or ?? Another T head for??

The high head does have a larger water capacity, but the low head has a slightly high compression ratio (i.e. smaller combustion chamber).

When ordering new tops from Classtique, on their order form, roll up rear panels are listed as an option on most ant year they supply. They sure are nice providing “ flow thru ventilation” on any touring car!

Motorcraft 465 works OK. Ford is introducing a 465A that’s supposed to be an improvement.

I have never seen 3/16 plate glass in original windscreens in Australian bodied T's. My 1915 Canadian sourced tourer had 1/4 glass and the brass channel. Other spare frames I have found and traded were all to take 1/4 glass. Is this a Canadian thing?
If 3/16 glass was mounted in our components without bedding tape, it would rattle and leak water...

The one in left corner at the rear looks to me to be the one possibly for on the right side where the door latch goes. From the angle it looks like the whole back section is too high for the body metal. Unless you don't have the tin against the sill at the bottom. The part on the floor looks like it might the top for the back panel.

Wondered how fan was fitted, on Jack’s the large gear has pulley for fan belt. Instruction page notes T fan bracket remains in place.

I don't think the line across the radiator on the touring is a fender brace. It appears to be attached to the radiator shell. I'd guess it's an accessory or owner added item for the purpose of retaining a lower radiator winter front to prevent the radiator from freezing in cold weather. It evidently isn't for mounting a license plate.

I already started the welding and filing process on the pedal cam, but the last two posts present viable, inexpensive solutions. Thanks for those.

A few comments: 1) If you are reaming the rear bushing to compensate for a front or center cam bearing bored off center, that's just plain bad practice. Replace the bearings or adjust your method of boring them to get them concentric with the OD. Reaming them to size in a bench vise is a good way to get them off center. They should always be bored...

With the firewall and rear mounting frame in place, use stiff cardboard to make a pattern that fits the two components. That will give you the shape you need to cut in the steel sheet. Custom made for a custom fitment. No need to follow a plan .
