New owner of a 1912 Model T with later hogshead and starter. See the photo below noting the exposed portion of the clutch shaft coming out of the hogshead as indicated by the gray pen in the photo. Aout 1/2 of shafting is exposed. The problem is that the linkage coming off the clutch pedal is interfering with the side of the cylindrical can that...

You really can't see in my picture however the short arm of the pedal is already bent some. I think that I will try some heat and bend it a little more toward the middle of the car. This all started when I found out why the car used oil (per notes of the previous owner). It was leaking oil thru a crack in the bendix cover.

Henrietta has always seemed to be struggling getting up enough way to comfortable pull away in top gear. She seemed to run out of puff. This brought the retarded position of the lever...

I’ve read that there have been accidents caused by Rocky Mountain brakes not holding on hills and allowing the car to roll backwards uncontrollably in reverse.

Thanks, Dan, and everyone else, for all the great information. Looks like maybe I was wrong to be unsure of RM brakes, if they can indeed be set up (in tandem with the stock braking system) to prevent the car from rolling backwards and causing an accident.

So, the question is, is there a resistance load that I can build into my test stand to replicate the load of a battery? Ohms? Watts?
It's not as easy as that because a resistive load is very different to a battery. There's nothing to actually clamp the generator voltage as the output voltage rises - unless the load current is greater than the...

In my experience, full size batteries outlast the smaller ones almost without exception. Applying a heavy draw, such as a T starter, to a small battery will probably shorten its life, and they seem to come with a short life built in. For non-starter use, a smaller battery ought to do fine, other than its lower storage...

Working on a Ruckstell out of a '15 Touring from the Lake Tahoe area many years ago - anyone recognize this type of outboard axle bearing ? The p.s. has what appears to be knock-off tabs across from each other - not so on the Ruckstell half ? Federal # FS88508 on the outer carrier.
Also: how not to bush a #160 housing !

Appreciate the comments Hap - supposed history of this '15 Touring was it was one of the xxx number built during the 1915 San Francisco Expo ! I'll check the housings a bit closer BUT they both take the later open spool & it's a later type torque tube so I'm assuming they were modified .

Had the same thing today. I was going out to fuel up for a tour stating tomorrow, hit the starter switch and killed everything. Previously we had been chasing a slow starter problem, which was cured by taking the switch apart, cleaning all the contacts and re fitting same. When the ground lead at the battery was hooked up again, slow starter...

What is top speed on TT truck?

I was talking to a fellow today who has double T truck and in conversation I asked what it would run and was told that he could do 40. That can't be right, can it? He said that it has a 2 speed accessory transmission and a stock TT differential. I thought that 25 mph would be a high estimate. Just curious. Thanks and God bless.

Yes, some of us enjoy the privilege of living where there are hundreds of miles of great Model T (or Model TT) roads. I was born in Los Angeles County and raised in L. A. traffic, so it doesn't scare me. But it has reached the point where I much prefer living in a comparatively remote location that some folks from the coasts consider flat and...

My 1913 T touring was bought from the original owner in 1954 for $450. It must have been in great shape because it still has the original leather. In 1960 my father offered me a 1911 Touring car if I restored it. He had bought it for $900 for Earl Leap, that was a hefty price because 5 years later he bought a 1931 Auburn Speedster for $500 after I...

My truck came with virtually no cotter pins on the castle nuts so I've been going through adding them everywhere they belong. My steering works fine with no binding but the bolt through the castle nut on the tie rod end will not budge. I've soaked it for 2 weeks with PB Blaster and even used an impact hammer to see if it would move, but it will...

Good Evening everyone and a pleasant Sunday to you all!
The 1927 model T that I’ve been mechanically restoring is just off for painting…. I think I’ve come up with the color of hunter green as the original! Wondering if anyone had a paint code that would still cross match as closely as I can to the original……and I get it, the paint is pushing 100...

I own a 1926 fordor that came to me out of Pennsylvania, by way of Valdosta, Georgia. I don't know who restored it in Pennsylvania, but while the paint job is of nice quality, if I had chosen the paint color, it would have been gray or maroon; anything but green. While i have nothing against John Deere tractors (my Dad owned plenty and combines,...

I wouldn't use the expanding foam because it will be a b×#@&* to remove later if you or the next guy need to ever work on that coil again.

Would anyone happen to have any photos/images of an original binder for the Model T Service Bulletins? Over the years I have put together a good sized set of them including some binder covers. How to install glass, 1927 Touring windshield

Searched but could not find specifics on how to install glass in windshield frames then in stanchions.
1, Do I wrap the glass in glass setting/bedding cloth tape I get at Lang's before inserting glass into frame.
2, Do I also use the setting/bedding tape or something else for under the clamp and each end of frame.
3, Do I get safety glass or...
Last post
Installing the glass in your windshield frame is easy if you take the frame to your nearby glass shop and let them do it properly. It not that expensive. If you break it while you try to install it, you just doubled the cost.

Looking for a brand name or information on a set or 4) 8-spoke Model t steel wheels I recently acquired. All was well until I measured them for tires. All 4) 24 . So 30 x 3's would work but think they wouldn't look correct or perform well especially on a Tudor. Are 32 x 4's an option? Any advice appreciated. (Or a set of 23 steel Wheels)
Thanks...
