I removed the cover in my 24 Coupe years ago when I was a little younger. Nowadays if I was to do it again I would remove the firewall to give more working room. When your younger and dumber and bend around like pretzel you can do things but now? I’ll be smarter and go slower and do things the easier way so you can have more room. ;)

Canadian serial numbers are less well documented than U.S. numbers, but the Encylopedia has several pages of them compiled from various sources.

My switch plate is like the second picture and i have a repro ammeter. If the ammeter is Model A this explains the need to reverse the wires. I did reverse the wires and it now reads correctly. Thanks for the help.

I agree it would be better without the modern hardware, but you can easily replace the Phillips screws and put on a brass cap nut in place of the hex nut.

While a mirror on a Model T may not be rock steady, it doesn't have to be. As long as it shows you what's behind you, you don't need to see the details.

I’ve seen this roadster up close. It looks like very well done, period work. I’ve encountered other Model K were converted to speedsters in the early years after production. I’ve long suspected this car was changed to a roadster years ago.

Did 2 such conversions. Noticed a single filiment bulb was extremely bright at speed. Used a double contact (lighting both) bulb. The 2nd one i worked on had a 6v single contact. It wasnt in service long. was burned out. Replace with a double contact 12v. 1157?

Danny, Since you don't have to adjust idle after you get it dialed in you could simply attach a wire or other method to prevent it from rotating until you find one of the barrel retainers. I didn't realize those round barrel types are so fragil.

I have plenty other things to do until parts get here. But not long and she will be on the road!

Regarding keeping the backrest spring pack in position, it is suspended by straps that are tacked either to the wood support slats (for cars that have them), or from the upper tack rail (for cars where the spring pack sits directly on the metal seat back).

If someone buys this seat, I have the folding support post for the rear of it. Now all you need to find is the front hinged brackets.I'm open to reasonable offers. Part # T8822 and appears to be T9668B, it's hard to make out.

The Tucker was mentioned above. It may have been the original intention, but none of the 50 or so production cars had them made that way. I think I read where a later restoration made one move. Fuzzy though on this.

14 and 15 radiators will interchange, but are not the same as Keith pointed out. A 15 radiator uses a radiator round tube bent to a slight V for the head light wire. Before you get started be sure an authenticate some of the versions that currently exist. There are many differences in the old photos of the original and the museum pieces. Seats, side lights, headlights, exhaust etc. Also there are pictures of #1 that could help as well

I understand that but the burr needs to knocked down also or it doesn’t have a flat surface for the edge of the small collar on the screw to seat against and seal. I deburred the threaded hole surface and snugged it down and all is fine. The burr was keeping it from seating 100%.

Looks like the castings may have never been buffed and polished except for the face. Take them off the car and give them a good buff and polish job. They may need more than just Rouge and a polish though. Some emery and a sewn wheel might be in order 1st.

Hi Terry : I have a Canadian '26 Coupe that has never been messed with .It was painted as a used car in 1965 without even removing the rear fenders. It still has the engine pans held on with square nuts and Made in Canada markings everywhere. If I can be of any help, don't hesitate. Cheers : Bruce

So I called Steve at Lang's (he is always helpful). He said I had the correct size key. He also suggested that I tap the key into the pinion slot. When i tried it before I was just pressing it in with my fingers. I also think you are correct when you say nothing fits perfect. Ha! I used plywood for the 1919 on my car deck instead of using the wood slats as original. That was over 30 years ago as it was a piece of cabinet grade plywood. I’ll bet Ford would have used a single sheet of plywood if it was cheaper and readily available. Anyway it’s held up well.

Be sure to get a coil that is for points ignition, not for electronic ignition, as the Amperage of the coil for electronic ignition is too high and will fry the contact breaker points.
As you are using an old distributor i asume your car is still 6Volts, most 6Volt coils are not available for electronic ignitions.
If your car is 12 Volts be sure...
