What Glass to install inside of Windshield Channel on 1914

Dropped off a 1914 Windshield Frame along with the brass Glass Channel to mount it in. The shop calls me to inform that their Plate Glass is 3/16 thick however the Safety Glass is 1/4 thick. The option they gave is to have Plate Glass cut and then tempered however he also felt like that was against the law to use tempered in the Windshield...

I have never seen 3/16 plate glass in original windscreens in Australian bodied T's. My 1915 Canadian sourced tourer had 1/4 glass and the brass channel. Other spare frames I have found and traded were all to take 1/4 glass. Is this a Canadian thing?
If 3/16 glass was mounted in our components without bedding tape, it would rattle and leak water...

I had a bit of a rude incident happen today.
I loaned my hub puller to a local T owner months ago, I explained how to use it properly.

Removing a battery from a 1927 roadster

Is there an easy way to remove the battery from a 27 roadster? I'm thinking about getting a running board battery box like you see on TTs to allow easier access in the future. Pro's and cons?
Last post
I like a battery strap too. For a battery I use a standard group 1 battery in an original Ford battery box. I had to put a piece of plywood beneath the battery, and along the sides to keep it secure in the box, and level with the top. I also use an original battery box cover and clamps. No regrets.

Hello. I can't figure out some details about the seat assembly kit from Cubels for a 1915 Roadster. I would be grateful if some of you could help me with these questions:
1. See picture #1. Are the lower extensions of these seatback vertical posts supposed to sit on top of the seat riser cutout, as shown in the picture, or is it supposed to go...

The one in left corner at the rear looks to me to be the one possibly for on the right side where the door latch goes. From the angle it looks like the whole back section is too high for the body metal. Unless you don't have the tin against the sill at the bottom. The part on the floor looks like it might the top for the back panel.

I don't think the line across the radiator on the touring is a fender brace. It appears to be attached to the radiator shell. I'd guess it's an accessory or owner added item for the purpose of retaining a lower radiator winter front to prevent the radiator from freezing in cold weather. It evidently isn't for mounting a license plate.

With the firewall and rear mounting frame in place, use stiff cardboard to make a pattern that fits the two components. That will give you the shape you need to cut in the steel sheet. Custom made for a custom fitment. No need to follow a plan .

I'm helping a friend with an original 36 Ford Sedan. He needs a new original type battery. I used to work at Ford Obsolete in Long Beach in my younger days, and as I recall the battery he needs is listed above. If those V8 boys are as picky as me, why can't he find the correct battery for his car?

Thank for your answer .

Metallurgy may differ. Plates that have been bent and straightened will be somewhat hardened, which may affect their magnetic behavior. Soft steels magnetize easily, but will not hold magnetism well. Harder steels and steel alloys will hold magnetism. Field pieces uses in association with permanent magnets are usually very soft steel.

I believe there are two kinds of black clinchers — Blockley, and all the others. So... I'd like to get two century plaques for our '26 T's. I had gotten one for the '24 roadster pu but that was two years ago and can't remember from whom , I believe they were $5 at the time. I'm positive y'all will know, thanks , Wingnut

I have had to get new bearings for a 920-1 cast iron warford this week. Old MTFCA posts were helpful, but I don't think there was anything recent so I will post some information to aid people who might be rebuilding one.
This is old information that I am pretty sure was published directly by Warford:

Aluminum Warford input & output bearings are the same size as Model A bearings just like a Muncie. I use the double sealed ball bearings.

Attachment to block to pull engine?

I need to ask a real neophite question: Exactly how should I attach to it to lift the engine?
AM getting closer to where I can start removal of my engine and transmission to find what cut my pan from inside.
In the Ford Bible that just arrived they show lifing the engine with an ice-tong type of gripper gadget,
In one Youtube the guy has an eye...

Did this a week ago, lift, load leveler (H.F.), and 4 eyelets into the block. The eyelets came from Tractor Supply and are only rated for 300 lbs each.

Top/Lid for Boyco Running Board Cans

First post
I am looking for some tops/lids for Boyco gas/oil/water running board cans. I tried to find the chafing dish fuel cans as suggested in the past but they are not the right size on the brand I found.
I talked to Howell's Sheet Metal who makes new cans and holders but they have not found a source for the lids.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Last post
If you have lathe access you can make lids from billet material.
I made a set for a different brand from brass. Knurled the outside.
You gotta make a cutter that profiles the very round thread.

A friend of mine passed away a week or so ago and at the funeral his brother asked if I could possibly remove a 17 chassis that was in the back yard. He is needing to get the property cleaned up soon. I hadn't looked at it closely in years but I said that I would get it. 20 years ago that chassis was pretty nice with a newly rebuilt engine....

#2 demonstrates that with correct pulling, a kickback is harmless. I broke a wrist by cranking a tractor the stupid way, and that was a serious reminder that correct cranking matters.

Hello everyone,
After being away for several years, I have decided to renew my membership and return to this forum with what will hopefully be received as a interesting project, worthy of members help.
Years ago I started a plan drawing of the Model T transmission, mostly because I wanted to know how such a simplistic mechanical device actually...

I got some interesting information today regarding transmission parts and variations. 3 drawings in particular reveal quite a bit about the transmission Brake Drum and shaft. On the shaft, the earlier version does not have the 30 degree bevel on the flange that connects to the drum. The later does.
The earliest version of the Brake Drum (narrow...

I am getting ready to reassemble my 26 speedster and thought I would take a good look at the frame. It has about 1/4 inch sag in the middle, not a big deal and placing a long straight edge on the frame rails shows that they are both straight side to side. However, the frame in front of the rear crossmember is about 3/8 inch wider than frame behind...
Last post
Forget the short straight edge. A taut string line will give a better over-all indication of any sag in the frame. Takes only a few minutes to do, and can be quite revealing! There is no better time to make corrections than when the frame is bare.

So what type of wheels and felloes do I have now?

Sorry but I'm so confused now.
So my rims are Kelsey and look just like the drawing via the drawings on this site under resources. If I look at my felloes they are flat on one side which appears to be Ford under the ford 2845B drawing or 2845C drawing.
So do I have Kelsey rims on Ford fellows?
Last post
Allan is correct although the photo doesn't show it very well. The felloe on the left is loose lug but when I bought the car there was a fixed-lug rim mounted to the wheel. No two wheels were alike on my car when I bought it so I've spent some time acquiring felloes that match. Even so, I have a pair of Hayes on the front and Ford's on the back....

As I tear my 22 touring apart and subsequently rebuild it, I came across something that I found a little surprising with the wishbone. I replaced the nuts with the proper countersunk nuts after I found the ones that came off the car were the wrong ones. With new spring perches, I put the front axle together and upon installing the proper nuts I...
Last post
That wishbone that takes normal nuts is the very first version of under-the-axle-wishbone . If you own a '22 then it migrated there from an earlier car some time in the past.
Thanks Scott! That's the answer I was looking for. I already have a tapered wishbone on and I will save this and not modify it.
What makes you think it is a 22?...
