You need a set of wood plans by Mel Miller or Leon Parker.
Someone needs to find out what happened to all of their plans, buy the rights and start reproducing them.

Finding the original couplers is very difficult, and often sellers want a bunch of money for them because they know you aren't going to walk down the aisle and get another one.
The couplers can be made if you know a good machinist that will work for cheap? Otherwise, they can be expensive to have made!
The 2 coupler parts need to be properly...

I’m happy with mine, installed so easy I thought I did something wrong. Ordered 4 tires and tubes at once, was close to 1300 with shipping so buy them for the quality because the price is pretty close to say a wards riverside. Bought everything at once so customs was about 60 bucks.

Thanks

Last post
It's not difficult to make your own switch. 1: sheet metal scraps to make a body and lever. 2: spring attached to the pedal shaft and the lever. 3: The least expensive push button temporary switch from the hardware store. When you step on the pedal, the spring pulls the lever against the push button to turn on the brake lights.

Hi All,
Another question if I may, I had the back axle apart last winter (2022/23) as I wanted to check the thrust washers had been replaced with bronze ones, which they had, there didn't appear very much side to side movement of the back wheels/half shafts/diff assembly at that time but today I checked and there does seem to be some, I wondered...
Last post
I use one of our brass $1 coins to replace the fibre washer between the axles. They are thick enough that they can be sanded down to make a custom fit for the particular job. A collapsed bronze diff thrust may allow the crown wheel and pinion gear to over-ride one another. Hence the safety compromise, because you will lose the Ford transmission...

Absolutely PERFECT job!!! You can get them on Amazon in a 10 pack for about $8. I order them in 500 quantities, so my cost is much better:)

It would be on my 1919 Touring with the coil hookups that protrude from the firewall.
A simple drawing or a wiring schematic would be awesome!

I would guess that it works like the intensifier spark plugs sold back in the Model T era. The, “intensifying” , is just a small pre-gap of around 0.010 inch before the actual spark plug gap , which makes for a little stronger spark in the cylinder under compression. So inside of the small wood box there is most likely just a solid lead with a...

Were different metals used to make Bermuda Carriage Bells or were they all stamped aluminum, meaning the actual outer bell sections? Also, does it hurt the tone quality to paint the outside of those bell sections or do they need to stay paint free!
Thanks
Last post
If you install a bell, be sure. To put lock-tight on the bolts and consider putting a “catch cage” of safety wire at a safe distance around the bell so that if it comes loose it does not rattle off to the side of the road someplace during a 30 mile drive.
Don’t ask why I think this is important to tell you….
Or you could get some drilled bolts...

I’m rebuilding brass Holley G for my ‘14 touring. The carb I’m building has an OK cork float that needs sealed, but I thought I would replace it with the modern material float that’s available. I also use a modern float sanded down to original thickness as recommended by others on the forum The material is soft and easy to work with.

Big gear to slow down the axle of that grind stone! A running one cylinder motor would put out too much rpms. Perhaps that flat belt pulley ran some other things other than a grind stone.
Here is another grind stone Model T motor style, but for slower manual operation, no fuel needed.

Last post
As Steve said - the improved car tanks are not being reproduced, and I think they would be more difficult to manufacture then the oval tanks, so considering the number of the late tanks that would likely sell, I doubt that they will be. If your tanks look to be repairable, you will probably not have any difficulty selling them.

Just picked these beauties up for a song. The larger seat tool has the Ford script. How viable of a tool was this? It would create an arched seat instead of a three angle. I know the intake would work fine with a narrow seat, but I was taught to create a wider seat for the exhaust for heat transfer.

When using a set of number stamps, how much effort should be required to stamp new numbers into the block pad above the water inlet on the side of the block? I have a block that's original use was probably for a stationary engine as it has a non Ford type motor number stamped on the pad of a 1927 vaporizer block. I know its going to require a...

When you file, grind, mill, or any other way of removing a number you flatten the number boss. It no longer matches the rest of the texture on the block. No matter what stamps you use it isn't going to fool a govt. employee who's job is to verify numbers.
A favorite saying of my father who grew up around Cajuns in Louisiana, was: There's more...

Saturday 9th March, I attended the Tea Gardens / Hawks Nest Motorfest, at Myall Park in Hawks Nest. Of the 400 or so cars that attended, mine was about the second oldest. Second only to a beautiful 1913 Fiat, which I spent about half the day talking to!
Was a fantastic day weather wise, and I got a nice sunburn!
The Model T got lots of attention...

What do you think of my old Ford sign?
This is a hand painted double sided sign that was in a early Ford Dealership in Illinois.
It is about 4' x 7' made of fiberboard with wooden frame.
Henry is sleeping against a tree dreaming about building a automobile.
Both sides are very much alike other than the automobiles are different.
One side has...

I am installing the correct double twist Rubes horn on my new to me foredoor. Can anyone tell me the correct length of the brass conduit not including the horn itself or the squeeze bulb. What I have currently measures 51 inches but to my eye it looks like it droops a little low below the door opening and was there a fastener of any sort holding...

Colin,
Thanks for your response and offer of patterns. I would like to take you up on your offer of the patterns. I suspect that I will most likely run with the doors removed but for a fall tour doors and further enclosing the cockpit sounds like a fine idea. I will try to figure out how to send my contact info offline.

What is this T style differential spider for? No center hole for the axles…

And Model A spider gears are the same as T. Later they did add an oil hole, but fit and function, the same. Take some time to go through the 1928 Model T parts book, you will find a few parts that carry the A part numbers.

ok, just to keep this out of Off Topic ( I am one of the forum admins) heres a Model T tip some will find very useful.
If you don't have a Voltage regulator, set your 3rd brush on your generator to 3-5A max charge rate (at 6volts) while driving WITHOUT headlights on and you'll prolong the life of your generator AND your battery. Cutouts just pass...

I'v got 3 solid testers now. I'll let you know if I need more folks!
My regulator simply replaces (and looks exactly like) the existing cutout - no other changes required.

Transport For Two Model T's

I will have a need in the next few months to transport two T's, both are tourings, one is an '11 the other is a '14, from Collierville, TN, to Rochester, NY.
Both cars must ride with their tops up. We cannot let them down to enter the trailer, nor let them down to exit the trailer.
Can anyone help, or refer me to someone?
Thanks.

Tim;
Actually, the '11 can ride in a trailer with the top down. That car is a driver and the top has been up and down several times.
The '14 really shouldn't. The top has never been lowered since the man who restored the car finished it. He cautioned that raising and lowering the top would likely cause paint to chip on the top bows where they...

Caswell plating has the easiest to use chemical but not the least expensive power supply. I'd bet that TexPowers is exactly the same as Caswell & Dragons. Buying from Grainger has more power & easy to deal with when necessary.

My non starter 1915 has been parsnickery about starting in hot weather. Scott Conger suggested the problem may be due to the carburetor float set too high. I tow my car with an open trailer. I had a cover made for the 15 while it is being towed. So, it was handy that the 18 is close enough to the 15 that I can use the same cover for towing.

However, I could use the extra leg room of a 1911 Torpedo.

That makes sense. I plan on polishing the rod and if it’s rough, I can replace it.

Wayne; That part actually was probably made to a good standard and your pan versus the new part had enough discrepancy to be mis-aligned. In the factory, the rough nose piece and tail piece were assembled to the pan in a die, brazed and then the entire pan was put in a lathe type machine and the nose & tail were machined to center with the pans...
