Scandinavian linings - no longer made?

Time to reline my brake band, and order some other parts. Surprised to see Lang’s no longer list Scandinavian linings, and Snyder’s say they’re no longer made for 26-27, and out of stock anyway for the earlier cars. Just curious if Scandinavians are now obsolete and if they will be reproduced again. My other favourite linings, once made by Mark...
Last post
I heard or read that here on the forum a few years ago. However the other brand linings such as Sears Allstate, Montgomery Wards, Mark, and maybe a few others while maybe not being as good as the Original Scandinavian were pretty good. If you can’t find the good Scandinavia’s that’s the next best ones to find if you still find them.
The reason...

I've wondered about this term for years. I have a close friend who is a whiz at digging up information on the internet. Turtle deck is a nautical term applied to automobiles as early as 1911. It doesn't appear that Ford ever adopted that term however.

I've noticed that while a T will raise some dust, it's much less than you get with a modern car. I suppose that's because it's so much higher off the ground and has much narrower tires, and in many cases is going slower.

Thought you kids might enjoy this one.
I stumbled on this cart, a near 10 minutes from my house on Craigslist. It was priced for weeks between. 100 and 200 bucks, and for what it seemed to be I thought that was a bit much. Upon checking the add this past Monday, a price drop to $40 made me text the guy immediately and set a time to pick it up....

Andy,
Glad to see that trailer made it to a good home. I saw the ad for it on Craigslist when it was first listed for $200. I would have been tempted if it weren’t for being an hour and a half away.

A Model F would be nice, say a 1904 with a rear seat unit.. A 2 cylinder auto with a strong engine over the Model A, similar to the AC engine, I assume. Not as many around as the NRS series. Eligible for the one and two cylinder tours. Anything 1904 or older are in a special class.

Hi
I purchased my first model T last fall (1925 roadster with a 26/27 rear end) and have been getting it ready for spring this winter. Since the previous owner didn't know if the rear end had Babbitt or bronze thrust washers in it I've pulled the rear end to have a look. Lots of surprises, mostly not good. It does have babbitt but look pretty...
Last post
Jim: The thrust plates had been turning on the inside of the differential and wore the pins and inside of the housing making new pins a few thousands too long both axles had a groove at the edge of the gear where the washer had worn the axle. With all this wear, I may need thicker brass thrust washers, haven't got that far yet.

I was shipped to Melbourne Australia.
I'm looking for the previous owner that would have the history of the car.

Don't use clear spray its too thick and spoils the shine. Antique brass on old devices was polished and protected by warming slightly and dipping in a very very dilute solution of shellac and alcohol and shaking off any excess.

It can be straightened with a press & lots of patience & thought.
A customer had a tire shop try to install new tires for him. They pretzelized one & gave up.
I didnt have an extra one to sell the guy. Nothing to loose. Straightening took over an hour to get right.

I'm new to the group and this is my first post. I retired last March and I'm now restoring a 22 T Touring. (Loving it!) I am hoping one of you might know if Howell's Sheet metal is still in business? I order about $2500.00 worth of parts from them on January 5th 2021. They told me the parts were all in stock and that I would get...

I’m amazed that this Howell thing gets leg’s every time it happens. There are naysayers, there are ‘oh well’, and there are the ‘they need to up their game’. Nothing wrong with expressing thoughts and opinion…but…pssst...wanna know a secret that really isn't a secret at all?
Howells doesn’t care…simple as that and THAT IS a part of their own...

I recently purchased a 25 Roadster Pickup. Here is a short walk around video of it. The fuel line is pinched flat and not routed correctly. Can someone show me pictures of how the fuel line should be routed? Here is a short walk around video of the pickup. More questions too follow, I am sure.

Being so close to the road, the idea behind painting the frame, axles, and linkage with gloss paint is not to impress anyone going under there to admire the paint job, but is more for utilitarian reasons. In being gloss, it is slick and more easily sheds mud, dirt, oil film and road film which, if allowed to remain, can start to deteriorate the...

Agree. I think I will have to slope the front edge a little for the front fender. I think I am going to do the 3/4 inch thick. I re-measured and the interior of a running board to the edge is 3/4 inch and the wood blocks from Lang's are 3/4 inch. It is only the lip width that is 1 inch.

My grandmother and my Touring...both born in 1924.
She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during the war and worked on B-24 Liberators. Her husband was captured on Corregidor, survived the Bataan Death March, the Hell Ships and years of slave labor in Japanese mines.

After some trying last year to get off the left rear wheel without success (using the puller did not show any result) I now followed the hint I read here somewhere and this was driving a short distance with slightly loosened axle shaft nut.
Moving some meters to and fro already did it. Although I did not here a sound of the wheel getting loose on...

Disaster struck my 1916 T yesterday.
I wanted to locate a small leak at the radiator outlet to the lower hose and had the T running in front of the garage and playing a bit around by moving ahead and back in the driveway.
Then a loud chirp followed by a crashing sound occured.
As this was while backing up my feet - in a panic - did what they are...

Jorge, I totally agree with Alan that the fan belt is no sitting comfortably as the pulleys appear to be out of alignment. This will probably lead to a premature failing of the belt, and, probably worse still, cause the fan hub to run hot. To check the alignment I would suggest that a straight edge is held against the bottom pulley to ascertain...

Hi!
I'm new to the Model T hobby, but I recently got a partially complete car with a coupe body and I'd like to restore it. I'm trying to figure out the year of the body. It looks like its slapped together as the serial number on the frame does not match the # on the engine. I'm thinking its either a '26 or '27 just because of the firewall, but I...

Thanks Les! I’ll definitely be in touch. I think I’m going to assume it matches the frame for now! One time you’re up this way and have some time, let me know and maybe you can stop by. The car is at my parents, just north of Tofield.

Ok.. thanks for the help.. ill put a short hub on and move the top back, maybe that will help a bit at the bottom as well.. even if the bottom doesn't move much it will look better..

Trent B,
Unfortunately, that has been a problem within the hobby for a very long time! Way too many details have been 'corrected' on model Ts because restorers wanted to make their car 'right'. Not many 1914 style open cars are left with their original early 1915 engines as they were installed while Ford resolved production difficulties that...

Adjusting Clutch fingers

Mopar_man » Wed Mar 31, 2021 7:35 pm
First post
So I've been doing some more reading about clutch fingers. When I put the transmission together I adjusted the clutch fingers so that the clutch spring (I used a new one) was 2 inches all the way around. Now I learn that there is also a 3/4 inch measurement taken under the clutch spring as well. Would this be 3/4 if the spring is at 2 inches?
Last post
I think that the clutch disengages adequately because it doesn't creep forward.when warm.

How do I measure valve clearance with these lifters?

So, what's up with Birdhaven? I see the Fun Projects website is down...only the Texas T site appears to be up and it doesn't list FP parts nor has it been updated for a long time. I know they had some supply issues and some parts were not available.... have things gotten worse? Is a telephone call the only way to find out what parts they do have?...

Looking at this photograph, you can see how the bracket on a 24 body is attached to the wood. At the point where the instrument panel and cowl and bracket meet, is where the rivet is located.

Do you have to twist and lock the reflector in place? It seems like the pressure between the spring and the headlight ring would hold it in place. It just seems very fragile to press against the spring and then trying to twist it in place. Thoughts? Thanks..Tommy
Last post
Yes, twist to lock the rectangular slots or notches against the flat flange of the headlamp bucket. The circular spring fingers provide tension to the reflector with its rope gasket to push against the rim and lens to prevent rattling or lost.
The reflector if left in the exit/entrance position will impede the rim rivets tabs from locking to the...

I posted on another of Ignatio's threads that a better process for treating rims with moving parts/clips is electro plated zinc. It is likely to be the original process used. Something in the electro plating process sees the interface between parts acting as a resistance to that plating, leaving the joint free of plating and still free to move....

Yes, it would be the air flap. Its between the choke butterfly and the throttle butterfly. In the original I have it is free floating, but in the rebuilt one I just received it is spring loaded at about 25-30 percent open. Should i go ahead and try it or call them and see if they have an explanation why they rebuilt it this way?
