Thanks to keith, I’ve corrected my post. Here are some samples, I’m sure there are others. The very early T and pre-T used similar fasteners to the Murphy, but different. I think appropriate for very early T, and certainly pre-T autos. I don’t have an example of a Murphy brand to show, but are the same and interchangeable with the Common Sense...

Starter switch I'm confused

First post
So I have a starter switch on my 26. It's the kind that has the top part with the button held on with two screws. My question is how are the two studs that the battery cable attaches to not grounded together by the bracket that hols them? Should there be a rubber washer insulating the studs? I had a rubber washer on one of the studs.
Last post
So this is the type I have. I can see the fiber around the contact (stud). This makes sense now. One of the rubber washers that was used under the switch was broken.

We have a 1926 New and Improved touring and it had an occasional skip. I thought it was time to clean the plugs and timer. Removing the plugs there was a carbon build up. Better way to clean is to scrape off the electrodes and or sandblast the insulators. That acid, must have either opened some connection or caused an internal short which would cause no spark. The old spark plug cleaners were small sandblasters.

NO!!!!!!. Gasket under the 4th main only. Drive shaft flange Is a ball joint. A gasket here adds a bunch of slop to the connection. A thin layer of silicone could be applied for your peace of mind, but is overall useless.

I recently purchased a Polished Brass Front License Bracket (T-3664-CHPO) from Snyders and I am having a little problem. The bracket has a nice feature that allows you to lock your crank in place so people do not fool around with your car. Would anyone have an example of the side weatherstrip (T-3639) for the wood firewall/dash. I have only been able to find a couple of photos showing the top felt strip in place and those were of the metal...

Don't think there was weatherstripping along the sides, just over the top. A little messy, but you could use something like dum-dum along the edges. It would stay flexible and stick to both parts.

Wow! That is incredible!!
Here in Georgia those trucks wouldn't exist due to the rain/moisture we see here - would just be piles of rusted frames/blocks/etc.
Very cool to see, and not just TT's, some T's, some early cars from Chevy, Nash, etc. (I especially liked the model T tractor conversions)

I would suggest using an flat face end mill in a milling machine to bore the guide hole, centering it from the valve seat. That way it will be less likely to follow the old hole. Once bored, ream to fit the new guide, press in a new guide a ream for valve clearance. Cut the valve seat to the guide hole. If I can help 903-824-1949

Well done Bob. The slippage was likely as a result of a combination of slick new rims and a narrower bead on the current tyre offerings. You fixed it by addressing the slick rim.
If anyone has a similar problem, there may be another way to address it. When I cut rim liners from the outside diameter of a 13 inner tube, I cut that strip wide enough...

I have 2-26's. I buy one gallon of the green anti-freeze and pour it in, then top it off with distilled water. Usually takes just over a gallon of water. My TT has the 5:1 gears and will cruise at 30 MPH just fine. You can't keep up with a tour unless you go with a aux. transmission. KC Warford makes a real good trans. for the TT that will let you keep up with the speed of the cars. You will still need a good strong running motor in any case.

I'm just curious what this is, it looks as if it has two electrical connections on it, I am not able to access from inside the car, it is located under the front seat.

I too had the top baffle come loose in a radiator and blocked the circulation and removed it only to reinstall it later because the purpose of the baffle is to distribute the water evenly across the cores.

Correct 1911 Touring Headlamp Question?

Hello fellow Model T-ers,
These 1911 E&J 666 headlamps (color photos) have 5 angled football shaped holes in both sides of each vent cap.
However, Bruce Mcalley's book (black and white photos) shows the correct lamps as having either 5 small round holes or only 3 larger holes on each side of these cap vents.
So, I am hoping that one of you...

The E and J 666 lamps did come with variations to the bonnets on top and the side mounting brackets. I believe the earlier bonnets had the branding on a small brass plate riveted to the bonnet, while the later bonnets had the branding stamped into the actual bonnet. I do not know when the changes were made.
the side brackets can be like the ones...

What is the trick to installing the cowl gas tank in a 26/27 touring? I've been at it all day and it just doesn't want to cooperate. I put in a new cardboard firewall panel, but it doesn't want to go.
Is there a different size cowl gas tank that I might have the wrong one? I did notice a note awhile ago showing a slightly different slope of the...

Does anyone have the Dimensions of the Outboard end, Or at least the Taper Deg of the Shaft.. Inches per Foot or Anything.. Is it the same as the car for Taper?.....
Last post
Make two tapered cones to fit big and small ends and mount on a shaft that has a stop on one end and a nut to snug things up. The taper would not have to be the same as the axle.

Fast running and inability to idle smoothly can also be a symptom of a vacuum leak. If you haven't already, repeat your leak test, even though you worked hard to fix it once already. :)
