If you are like me...you have almost no difficulty getting down on a creeper (I sorta plop) it’s the getting back up! I can get back up maybe once, so I took a half sheet of 3/4, added Rollie wheels. And spent a day tossing a general selection of duplicate tools on it.

That way if I forget a tool, something on the tool creeper will do...

Hello;
I am working on a 27 coupe and am wondering if anyone can supply a picture of how the lower steering column bracket mounts to the firewall. Not sure if the separate bracket or lower bracket piece mounts to the inside of the firewall or to the engine side of the firewall.

Getting ready to reinstall my timing cover. From what I have read, if I get the new style seal instead of the felt or rope seal, I don't need the brass shield. Is this correct? And, if I get the new style seal, do I center the cover prior to installing the seal? Thanks. Tommy

1913-1914, the hogshead housing is slightly different, in that it has corner reinforcing gussets on the 4 corners of the domed part of the housing. Otherwise everything is exactly the same as it was in 1911-1912.

I did not see them in the vendors catalog.

Lang’s new catalog has it on page 205. If you look it up on their website look under for door parts. Snyder’s has some too.
It might not be exactly but it works. It also might be sold in 4 ft length to cut to fit. Some have used Model A channel from Snyder’s. I think the 25-27 T channel will work.

Hudson, When the incoming air passes thru the oil, the air gets saturated with oil as the bubbles vaporize the oil. I assume that the more air you allow thru the oil, the more saturated the air becomes and the more oil saturated air is going to the intake and mixing with the incoming air/fuel ratio.

I took a chance on this horn off of ebay. I don't know what it is. It might be a faux reproduction brass horn. I tried 6 volts and 12 volts on it and it hums. I don't actually think it is brass, I think it is a kind of paint that looks like brass since when I open it up it looks shiny steel. Can anyone identify it and how I might get it to operate?

Looks like a battery type buzz horn. When the magnet pulls the diaphragm down the points open. It may be missing gaskets that went on one or both sides of the diaphragm, putting it too close to the center part so it does not have room to move in and out. Fordwood, sets up the shop to build specific runs of parts or kits. They won’t begin producing a 21 roadster kit for instance until they have several orders to make sense in gearing up for it. It’s a bummer and patience is needed but when you do get through to them a do get their parts you’ll be pleased.

So, I inspected my removed parts and they are all present and intact. I matched up my metal ring to the options presented. Although it looks brass in color, it is in fact metal. It is too small to be part of the shield , but matches up perfectly to the retaining washer. I think it is just a remnant of maintenance of yesteryear. Thanks to all.

This is my opinion. You might like it or not. You are building a speedster, which is not a stock Model T, so the steering column doesn't need to look stock either. If your steering column is the length you are going to use in the speedster, and it is otherwise in good working condition, Then just lube up the gears and leave it alone. You can clean...

I am learning about these wheels that I have on our 1923 Canadian Coupe

There are 2 different kind of lugs, ones with a flat nut and ones with a conical nut.

One side of the car has the flat ones the other side the conical ones.

Just got these new metal stem tubes in the mail ...

Like a bad Camel they Went from 2 humps to one hump overnite..
Will these conform to the tire evenly once fitted ?

I recall the 30x3.5 metal stem EEC brand tubes when i first purchsed them in 2009 along with my white tires from Wallace Wade in TX, were made in Vietnam & the 30x3 Universal brand metal stem tubes back then were made in Mexico..

Good stuff. Based on your comments, a slight change in plan. I will meticulously make measurements of all components per each wheel type and model them. Yes I will be measuring worn wheels, but I can always change them in CAD when I get the original dimensions. So in the end, I will have models of ;

I'm finally able to carry on with my field coil rebuild. So far, I've done four of the sixteen, all of which are clockwise wound with the tab up. And, my fear has come true. The coils don't all finish at opportune lengths, some to worse degrees than others.

For me the same goes for trying to straighten an exhaust manifold.
After going to the scrap yard and buying a piece of I-beam to make the jig, I might as well keep doing it. :D

The last time I checked, the only new exhaust manifolds available were 25-27 style. If your older T is a show car, or if you just want it to look correct , that wont do.

Got 2 questions?

1st Can I attach the clutch spring to the drive plate and then evenly screw it down to the brake drum? Or will that put too much pressure on the clutch ring and the 3 pins that hit the clutch fingers?

2nd. After I compress the clutch spring the pin should rest in a small detent. However I see two places it has been resting. so...

I now have a 1925 T coupe. I have had several T's and still have and some but they all are open cars and therefore do not have operating door windows. I need to remove the door fabric covered panel and wish not to take the wrong turn on removing the handle. Is there a split washer behind the handle scutchon (spelling ??) that needs to be pushed...

Sunday with the car back together, I went out for a long drive and then parked the car overnight. The next day it was back on the road for another nice drive. Once again, the temps were below the circle on the MotoMeter and the motor acted fine, no signs of getting hot. On coming back it was time to drain the Prestone flush out. No surprise here...

That is correct. I’d use a star washer there also. Make sure the carbon button is still under the piece of spring steel. If it’s an untouched unit, it’s good advice to take the thing apart and clean the old dried lubricant from the ball bearings, and use fresh oil when reassembled.

I just got these two 30x3 metal stem EEC tubes.. and the bag they came in have a browning residue.. No-way il be fitting these in my new white tires just yet..The only areas that stayed white on my previous whites was where the greasey rubber inner flaps folded up the inner edge of the tires bead..so ive decided to pump up 2 the tubes and sit them...

The T arrived today and got put in the barn for a while. The motor number says april 23 but title says jan 25, I don't know them that well, any guesses? Of course it really doesn't matter as the goal is to have fun driving around the farm once I put new bands in it.

Hello;
I am restoring a 27 Coupe. While disassembling the steering column and getting pieces painted and bolts ready.
The 2 bolts in the attached picture hold the lower bracket of the steering column to the dash. As you can see they appeared to be originally Nickle plated. Can anyone confirm if they are to be Nickle plated?

My December 1926 has Nickel Bolts as shown affixing that bracket as well along the top of the “dash”
All have the standard screwdriver slot. No Robertson on them or the Steering Wheel.

Hello:
I am restoring a 27 coupe (American Car). The car was relatively complete and original.
The front license plate was mounted by a couple clamps that wrapped the headlight bar.
I did not think this was original.
I was wondering if anyone had supporting documentation of this or were they all mounted on a bracket that came off the front...

Everyone says use a late crank but I can't find how to tell the early from late or how to id a EE crank, I think I know which is which but I want to be sure. Explaination with pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm in the process of installing Rocky Mountain brakes. When re-installing one wheel, the parking brake lining came loose. (The lining came loose because it was very tight in the drum) I had a replacement lining kit. When I riveted on a new lining with a new cam, the new brake wouldn't fit back in the drum. Hopefully none of those particles got into your lungs. be careful.
The problem with grinding the cams, is that it causes a permanent change. Later lining might be available to fit and the cams have been changed.
I would recommend that you buy a new set of cams while they are still available just to have in store if that be the case.

One of the water outlet threads in my cylinder head is stripped. Any suggestions? it is the thread on the drivers side. Is there enough material around the bolt hole to simply drill it out and re-tap it one size larger? I would prefer not to have to replace the head, but if that's what needs to be done \, I guess I will

Unless it is some rare, early head. Why not just replace the head??? They are readily available and cheap. Here they charge about $20 to surface one. Find one with good spark plug threads, good outlet threads, put it on and go driving.

I’m getting ready to install the lift helper arms for my quarter windows for my 24 coupe. I believe it mounts to the door latch post and is “behind” the glass on the body side of the glass. The question I have is the measurement of where to mount the arm. The distance from the lower cross member to the arm. I’ve attached a couple of photos....

It probably doesn't have to be too exact, but the roller on the end of the arm drops into the notch in the bottom wood piece when the glass is down. Put the roller in the notch and mount the arm where the bracket lands on the post. Can you find the screw holes in your old wood for reference?

How do you remove the burner assembly from the font of an oil burning sidelight? Mine are Stuck! Stuck! Do they unscrew? I have squirted some PA Blaster up into the area where threads might be, and await your replies. Cheers, Bill

Got them off! How? Soaked them in PB Blaster overnight - still stuck. Then heated the font top where the two assemblies join together until oil smoke filled the air, then grabbed the burner and font and twisted counter clockwise. They both released! If you do this, wear gloves! My guess is decades old lamp oil had glued things together.

I have put a leakless water pump on my rebuilt 27 t engine the old pulley was rebuilt because it was loose but i wanted on of the aluminum crank pulleys you can tighten up. i put it on and tightened it up but it still has some play there are also billet pulleys made is the diameter in them smaller that you make them to fit? Looked in the forum and in some books but nothing to say what screws go where in the dash.
The vendors sell different interior screw sets but I'm not seeing (6) matching screws of the outside dash edge.

Just about all of those 1926 Model T Dash and Door screws were used on the 1928 Model A and are available form several Model A parts suppliers.

The 1926 gas shutoff handle was used on the early Model As and only requires the top bend over travel limiter tab to be cut off for use on a 1926 Model T.

Yes, it is a center door Herb. The electric tail light would indicate 1919 or later to me. The Touring at left has no cowl lights so I would put it in that range also.
