I've done this several times on different Model T's
On my Town Car it has brass strips around the folding roof.
I drilled shallow holes on the flat side of the 1/2 round strips and used brass flat head nails whose head was the size of the drill I used.
I then silver soldered the nails into the strip. That was 55 years ago they are still there.

There is a similar problem with center door sedans. I'm 6'3 , and I've always had trouble figuring out which side of the brake lever to put my leg!

We have a place in L.A. called friction materials. They are ok, but I would like to know if a softer lining is available? For the steel brake drums, I don't think the harder lining works a well. I'm talking Rocky Mountain brakes.

I was told decades ago that the formula was 20 PSI per inch of width... that puts me in the 60/70 PSI crowd, kind of like a bicycle tire... I forgot to tell that, as I lined wood or kevlar bands, I soak them in 1/2 liter of ATF and top off the bucket till all the bands are under with fresh motor oil.
I use this mixed oil later in the engine.
Just leave them in the mixture till you need them for installation in the transmission. 1 or 2 days or longer it doesn't matter

I've not found that to be normal but I did forgot to ask you if the shorter rollers were all wound in the same direction which could possibly indicate that bearing came out of an axle housing that was bent or perhaps an axle itself ?

I am not sure on all the details for an engine swap. I think it is more common to put a Model T body on a Model A chassis. But I don’t know what crowds either have a market for...

That wheel and split rim in 30x3 1/2 could be for straight-sided 30x 3 1/2 tires.

There were makers of straight side tires in this size, think the Baker rim was once made with wheels to fit the T.

Unless they are out of stock (?) Lang's Snyder's etc carry them.

Dave: My original '26 coup does not have a seal on the top hinge, the visor apparently gives some protection keeping most water out. If anything were sandwiched between the hinge and body my windshield would not close, it's a tight fit as it is. best, jb

As far as I know, the 1925 and 1926 door latches are the same.

You have quite a few errors with your top and upholstery. Do some in depth studying and you will figure it out. I hope you can re-position the top covering so you can get it to fit. Look at lots of factory photos to begin with!

Mike, do what Allen just said. Let those who deal with it daily handle it. It's worth the money. You break your glass once, maybe twice, trying to install it, now you've spent more than what it would be to let them do it. I've done two sets of windshields through the glass company and no regrets.

Well, at least your hacksaw blade didn't do what MINE did to me last weekend! I just KNEW I should have put on an extra heavy pair of gloves while hacksawing a bolt held in my vise. Kiss the use of the left thumb good-bye for a couple weeks! 'Good thing I'm right handed. OUCH!!!

Good video of Steve sealing those axles shut. We need a good explanation like that of how to get those caps off. Not as easy as putting them on.

Being's that a '14 wasn't available with a starter from the factory, a solenoid & remote switch would remove any chance of accidently stepping on the floor mounted switch and possibly causing flywheel damage (if already running) or if left in high gear could result in the car lurching forward !

One of life's exasperating misadventures is dealing with carriage bolts in rounded-out holes....

If you google.maps Racine, WI you can see where Walker mfg used to be. Go to the Pugh Marina and look north, west of the Racine yacht club, and you will see all the squares of concrete where the factory was located.

You probably won't want to go to this extreme, but bare in mind that the throttle and spark levers are held against the quadrant by spring tension. On my over restored (determined by Walt Rosenthal at a rare MTFCA judging event in the late sixties) light delivery ice cream truck I always lifted up a little as I adjusted the spark and throttle in...

Further to Kelvin’s posting I did a run of solid copper laser cut gaskets for the 4 valve Rajo and also for the Prus head for over size valves. With the right gasket sealer on a perfectly machined deck no problems.

Recently I installed my 8 valve Roof (Laurel model 40) reusing a 30 year old used steel gasket. I’ve done a couple of run tests...

Regarding valve seats:

Have you ever had the opportunity to look over a stripped NOS cylinder block?

I have, and I was surprised by the valve seats. In a new block it almost looks as if there is no valve seat at all. If you look closely at the seats you can barely see a very narrow seat. The ones I have seen look like the seat is 1/16” or less....

Photo #3 looks like a California plate with the star tag.

If you don't have a water pump your fan belt would most likely be a 23 inch but as you said, measuring it is best. You can also choose from leather or more modern material to replace it.

Ed Fuller's post (above) enlightened me as to why the brass covers on the interior side of the hinge would not screw or turn off.
Answer - They're covers that just pull off revealing a nut that can be loosened.
A couple turns of the nut with a 19/32 wrench and we're now in business!

Buckeye will sell you the parts and let you do it yourself, if you know what you are doing.

Best way is loosen the stanchion bolts, remove the windshield frames for best access.

Then remove the seals, clean the channel to remove any obstruction for full seat of the seals. I would get new seals too. Then rub the edge of the seal that goes in the channel with Silglide or any silicone paste. with that lube easy to pull the seal into place.

Not hard to do but a bit tricky to reach by yourself. Remove the seat back and bottom cushion and put yourself halfway into the trunk to reach from there, while a second person holds the deck lid from the back of the car. As a teenager I did it myself from inside the trunk, but I wouldn't do it like that today. Install the hinge to the body on one...

I wish I had Lewis's 1/2 wrench. He gave me a lot of things when he moved to Sacramento and I bought his Pasco wheels

I do know if you waddle over to a 26 frame with a 25 splash apron you will find the rear mounting hole for the apron to be 2 3/4 inchs further back on the 26 chassis. I know this because today I spent the better part of the day cutting the mounting tabs off the splash aprons and moving them back 2 3/4...

I was lucky enough to visit the Livingood workshop and talk to Jesse Livingood's grandson (Jesse 11) and drive his 4 wheel drive speedster.

Looks like some discoloration on the engine head - not sure. But paint burn off is a strong possibility - using Engine Enamel on the exhaust manifold or not following the correct curing procedure

I think they will work on all cars with brass radiators but of course would not be correct because there are cosmetic differences.

I just received a complete set of new Snyders seat springs for my 24 Touring.

They shipped them promptly and they arrived in beautiful shape.

Can't say enough good about them.

The short pencils are normally used to plug the overflow tube when adding coolant to the radiator. I recall an eccentric gentleman who used a cellular radiator for a pen and pencil rack. There were dozens sticking out of it. Maybe that's where I got it.

Kim Dobbins is advertising a whole bunch of brass lamps for sale. Talk to him regarding as to what you need. If he cannot educate and guide you in the right direction, no one can. Frank

Very interesting. I have a TT with a Muncie, but it's the more traditional under/direct/over/reverse set up.

Being a TT guy, I can't help but wonder - If you install this super under/under/direct Muncie in a TT with low speed rear end gears and a Ruckstell, then set it in Ford low/Muncie super under/Ruckstell under would it even move? :lol:

And to think I either heard or read that repair shops used to slap hub caps back on with a mallet

It would be nice if more people will let us know, pictures if possible, what you have under your rear seat to support the seat itself.

It is convenient to use a 7/16 drill bit, if you have one. Also, make sure the float is level with the machined surface at that gap. If the float is angled in any way, the setting will be off.
