OK, now that I have your attention..... I need to sand blast a prest-o-lite tank. How long does it need to be aired out before it's OK to blast? Would their be any kind of residual deposits that could be flammable?

I got this nice set of top prop nuts today. Am curious if these were significantly different for different years. Were they always painted black? These appear to be nickel plated under the paint.

This is wire wheel rear hubs. Do you tighten then back off to the nearest key slots? Seems to be a crapshoot with the course slots on the nut. I have a few rear spring perches with good threads, some with their original nuts and some without. The nut thread size is 11/16” – 16 tpi. Having bought a couple of new perch nuts from the vendors, I find these replacement nuts cannot be threaded on the perches. Some rudimentary measurements are as follows:

So I finally disassembled my front axle and have taken all the old grease off. My question is what is the be at way to remove paint on these old parts. Most aren’t very rusty, but still have the old paint on them. What tool should I go about to clean the paint off?

Found this Brass Duck on the 2019 Florida winter tour at a flea market. My wife and I thought it would be a cute radiator cap.
So yesterday I tried my hand at brazing this duck to a cap.

I am trying to get the wood ready for re-upholster.
After taking the back of the back seat loose from the wood, the damage to the metal work seems worse.
The left side of the panel looks like it could tear more.
The screws don't seem to be right.

I received a new rebuilt starter from Ron Patterson and installed it. It really cranks! Much more powerful than the old one. I wonder why the new rebuilt one seems so much more powerful than the old one? Do these degrade with time?

On my 1927 Roadster, the hood center hinge rod pops out of the hood retainer clip on top of the radiator when I open the hood. Is something missing that would hold the rod in place?
Any suggestions for an easy solution? A cap or cover?

I just picked this up from a buddy. It's got a 23 motor in it so I'm guessing that's what I'm going to call it. It runs, drives and stops. It has a True Fire ignition, solid rear tires, solid frame and a Texas T alternator (not hooked up). I've driven it up and down the drive sitting on the gas tank.

I'm thinking it is over heating as steam...

I have a 1927 Roadster with original floorboards and the draft deflector. It also has a Ruckstell with the shift lever in the middle. I found it difficult to install the top board with the draft deflector behind the pedals. Are the 26-27 license plate clamps that mount to the headlight bar the same as for a Model A ? I have a set for a Model A but the holes in the original 1927 Tennessee plate are set lower and I can’t attach it.

I did a forum search with no luck. I think there was a thread about chassis paint. From what I remember, it was a brush on paint that would not show brush marks and was hard as nails.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have 2 new 30x3 tires that had shrunk. I needed to expand the bead, so this was my solution. Suppose I will have to buy another JD to do 30x31/2 tires.

This would be appropriate considering what's going on in the world today....

I was reading an old post from 2016 about using Permatex - but I could not find the answer. Gasket sealant was used on my engine (oil pan, transmission housing), but I cannot recall on which side of the gaskets it was applied? Do you apply it on both sides of the gasket? IMHO it would make sense to have a leakfree engine.

I came across this tie rod and spindles in my stash the other day. It looked peculiar. The spindles have the straight, early arms and the right side has the speedo mount hole in the arm. I am finally in the process of re-assembling the drive train of my '27 touring. I think that I have the bronze thrust disks properly adjusted. My question is do I pack the inner two axle bearings with axle grease? They seem to be open to the differential area which is lubricated with 600w. There is no grease cups for the inners only the outers.

For the number of rear ends I have pulled apart never payed attention to the ring on the inside center section end. My question is; When installing the tube into a Ruckstell housing, is it there just to limit the movement of the bearing so would not be needed?

The AACA Western Reserve Chapter annual swap meet scheduled for March 28th at the Ashtabula County Fair Grounds has been cancelled due to the virus. This is not a large meet but a fun meet and gathering of car folks. They usually fill the 60 ft x 175 ft building along with outdoor spots.

When I first got my 24,I removed the transmission inspection plate to check it out.
I found the hogshead was was completely worn out and purchased a good replacement.
I also found the drive plate had .070” end play.

I am building a 15 model T based ALF fire truck and the bed is made of white oak. I was told today that white oak is difficult to get paint to adhere too. Any truth to this? Any one have experience painting white oak?This is a picture of the hose bed on it end. Thanks!

Just an update on our meet. At this time we are not cancelling our meet. We will address this on April 15 which will be one month before the scheduled event (May 15,16). I was just on the HCCA website and in addition to Chickasa being cancelled, it shows that the Bakersfield swap meet is down with the Corona Virus.

I finally finished my HCCT #2 - A motorized Allen Electric unit.
Allen Electric never made a motorized HCCT - Only KR Wilson did.
I did use the same exact motor that the KRW unit has.
So, in that vane, it is Period Correct .
The final RPM of the flywheel is 157 RPM.

Hello! The top bows that came with a recent purchase on my 1915 Ford T Roadster are puzzling. I have searched a bit and found a pair similar on a 1922 Roadster Truck but im not convinced that was model specific. Any ideas of what I have here would be greatly appreciated!

My 1915 came to me with a Holly NH carburetor installed and an uninstalled, unrestored, Kingston L carburetor.

I believe the Kingston L carburetor would be a typical carburetor for my car when it was new.

What are the pros and cons of each carburetor?
