We have all combinations of the front (crowned) fenders, so we know they existed. Their use on which vehicle is not completely known. Here is what I have seen. My book on rebuilding model A’s claims that Ford went to a cheaper lead base babbit because they thought the more robust, larger crankshaft did not require the more expensive grade. The coil terminal of the ignition switch receives power from which ever side the key is turned to, that being magneto or battery AS FORD BUILT IT.
For your application you could wire the fuel pump to coil and then turn the key to BAT to power the fuel pump.

I think there are always more cars for sale in late fall and winter when people realize they can't keep them outside. I know several people who bought cars earlier in the year and have no idea where they are going to keep them.

Tubes with cut-off rubber valve stems are thicker, but I doubt they are thicker than old time tubes. Often these old tubes had much thicker rubber where the valve stem was clamped in. And more often than not, that thicker rubber was reinforced with a layer or two of fabric.

When fitting old style threaded stems in new tubes, I like to leave part...

I replicated another piece today. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures. It was the passenger side front cowl piece that goes at the bottom and completes the curved bottom profile of the cowl directly beneath the floorboard risers where the front body bolts go.

If The truck can still be driven, the poor boy or old farmer solution was to loosen the axle nut about three turns, replace the cotter pin (so it can not vibrate off all the way) and drive the truck over a bumpy road or driveway kind of fast. A short trip will usually loosen the drum.

A good way to fix a loose pulley is to coat the inside with a liberal coat of tin solder (50/50). Tap it into place, any high spots in the tinning will self cut to size. No shimming, and will last for years.

It was a little like sending 25¢ and two box tops to Battle Creek Michigan wasn't it? How many remember? The anticipation and checking the mail each day or waiting for the mailman was almost torture. Why did we have to grow up?

You don't need square or eight-point sockets for square nuts. Regular 12-point sockets work just fine. I installed a new carriage bolt and square nuts on the driver's side today with a 12-point socket. I was amazed that my local Ace Hardware store stocks square nuts!

When you tighten the cylinder up with a piston/ring replacement you will increase compression, (providing the cylinder is round) and put more strain on the lower end (rod journals). If the the rod or main bearings are marginal the increased compression will cause any bottom end wear to be amplified and you may notice a thump that wasnt there...
