So... helping a recent acquaintance with his T, it's a '19/'20 vintage, has the 1919 style switch, cast light lever, it is a Clum product. There seems to be a center contact disc missing. Is anyone refurbishing switches that may have loose parts. I would post a pic but can't seem to accomplish that. The missing piece engages the cast lever via two... Last post
Yes Dan , the disc I'm missing appears to be second from the right front row, that is the very same switch. Anybody got a loose one? You can email me at reepwar@gmail.com thanks for your support. Wingnut

Upon repairing the Coupe passenger door, i noticed what looks like two spot welds.
The outer green skin had two round holes which I figured were just rust holes but when I removed the really bad part, I found that the inner structure had separated from the skin. So, I was wondering, Did Henry start using spot welds late in T production? Then I...

Just another tidbit detail of model Ts having spot welds.
The move to slowly updating the bodies and style of the model T, for 1915 Ford moved to a small cowling surrounding a smaller firewall than in previous years. Prototypes had been hand made in the summer of 1914. However, production problems stamping out the body's large side panels with...

It’s time to replace the lower steering shaft bushing on my 26 Tudor. The part number on the pivot is T 932C which I’m told is the correct part for this car.
I will remove material from the contact area of the shaft to correct the wear, and will make a bushing to suit.
Researching on the form, it seems there were a number of changes to the bushing...

Will be restoring the steering gear on my '27 soon.

Last done in 2003, and now the steering shaft is wobbly in the bracket bushing. The shaft was an old original and when fitting the new bushing, reamed it to a slip fit. Likely now that old shaft was a bit oblong worn anyway, and fitting a new bushing gained some more life.

 So got a new 5:1...

 Hi.
Meanwhile I successfully replace the roller timer by a new (similar) one.
I also verified the distance of 65mm / 2.5 between spark advance rod on timer and the screw at oil fill socket.

Because the battery was empty, I connected the battery charger and tried to crank start the engine for first test run while the battery is charging.

 Of...
 Last post
don't know what Henry smoked when designing the timer-advance-rod, but that stuff was not good.
It hits the engine block, rubs on water hose, is too close to the timer, ... There would be lots easier ways to link the timer.

My first thought it was a contemporary wheel off a Chevrolet. But probably an aftermarket buy, the six lugs indicating a slightly heavier wheel?

Kieth, Tim, I agree with both of you ! And I’m curious about the T. To me, it looks too short for a TT, but the heavy rear wheel looks TT. Special chassis ? Optical illusion ?

One drive around the block with an E-Timer was all it took to know I had to have one. That was nine years ago, and it's been 100% reliable.
Similarly, the ECCT with software is a must have tool for coil analysis and adjustment.

 Hi all,

My name is Kevin and I'm the proud new caretaker of my late grandfather's model t.

tl/dr: I inherited a T. Bill Squires is awesome, and I'd never use anyone else. I'm in NW Tennessee, know little about what I'm getting in to, but know I want to do it right. I'd love to meet other folks in my area, even if it's just to share the love of...

 Hi Kevin,

Glad you joined the forum! Thanks to you & the other gentlemen for the kind words. Honestly I transport many 6 figure+ vehicles, but they don't have the background/history/story that yours does & it really gives me a great feeling to be a part of the journey.

Here is that picture when I caught you guys trying to step out of frame!...

 Hi folks
Just a quick question about over heating. I just got his 22 running for a friend that inherited it from a step father. Beautiful car. The story was the car had a rebuilt engine when they got it. I just fixed the carb from setting for a few years. Car starts and runs great (have not drove it yet) but in about 5-10 minutes it will start...

Even if the tube are clear and it flows good it still may not cool. Over time the the fins are no longer in good contact with the tubes and can not dissipate the heat. As noted Brass Works is the only one making new radiators. They do have a back log.

Hello, my name is Kevin and I just purchased a 1923 Ford Model T Tudor. The car is very complete and original looking. It needs a few things to get road worthy. Looking at Ford script hand oiler cans, how can on tell a T era can from a Model A era can? How can one tell an original T can from a reproduction T can, as I know they used to be reproduced (I have one)? Last post
The rest of the story is they were made in West Virginia by a member of the Paul family that made 50 specials using original 1922 dies and the E was added to keep the metal from warping.

Hello everyone. I have a klaxon model 21. The horn works but I am missing the adjustment part. I am attaching a picture of the missing part circled in red. If anyone can help me figure out what part goes there it would be much appreciated.I have tried different springs but they seem to just push it out farther out when I need adjustment in. Last post
I figured it out. A spring goes on the end that I was missing and the adjustment is 2 nuts that slide the entire back section forward and backwards. Here is a quick video of the sound after I got it adjusted.

If you are getting detonation, back off on your spark advance. Your .25 clearance should be plenty. How much total advance are you running now? If much more than about 25 degree,s timing might well be your problem.

It also gave me two questions.

 1. Has anyone ever seen or owned one of these devices that is shown on Page 41?

 2. What was the Voltage and Amperage the unit supplied to the Coil Ring?

Anyone ever come up with a good way to rebuild the worn cam ramps on pedals? Hate to scrap a bunch of them if way to repair. Thanks Dan Last post
I went through this a few years back. I built the area back up with weld and then used a die grinder to get it back to the original geometry. It’s been working fine since.

I started a thread here (Rejuvenating cam on clutch pedal) but I didn’t post photos of the result. I’ll see if I can find photos of the finished part.

What would they have been used for?... Last post
In late 24 firewall was modified with that lower oval hole, then in 25 the choke bell crank was deleted and the new “26” style combo choke and carb adj u-joint swivel on the NH carb used that oval hole. These 25s fitted with that carb setup just prior to the Improved Car for 26 model year.

This old Giant Equipment brochure was posted on Facebook back in may. Judging by the early phone number it’s 1950s, since they changed to the 7 digit phone numbers in 1958-59.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these rims were a one year (1919) deal. Then Ford went to the rims with integral lugs. These rims are also used on Buffalo Disc wheels, but with a heavy retainer ring that went around the entire rim and the retainer ring was held in place with 4 lug bolts. Just FYI...........

I have a tire issue I never ran into before. I have a good 21 inch tire that was low in air. I pumped it up to 35 Lbs and all was fine. Tire is aired up but no air will go in or come out.... Last post
The tube shifting in the tyre happens when the tyre is underinflated. The valve stem hole in the rim and the same in the felloe will tend to hold the valve stem vertical, so when the tube wants to shift it will tend to tear away from the stem. The same can happen with metal stem tubes. The correct tyre pressure is the answer.

 On a 21 flat based...

I am sure a common front fender problem. A tear as seen in the pics. I had the same issue with a previous roadster.
I paid a fortune to repair, only to have the repair begin to crack. The fender was repaired while it was off the car.
I think the stress of reinstalling may have weakened the repair.
I'm thinking to repair this fender while still on...

When I repaired our fenders, i replaced the wire and put a bead undernaeth the cracks. Saw my uncle do that on a VW Beetle. The insurance man said that after an accident that it needed a bead to reinforce the area. He said that too soon, as the bead was already there.

Hi Everyone. I have been wanting a Model T for a long time and finally got one. I picked up a 1917 Touring that has been converted to a pickup with the Ford metal pickup bed. It's a project and not restored (what I wanted so I can learn about it). It also needs upholstery work and its missing the wood backrest frame for the seat. Its pretty... Last post

I'm adjusting the coil points for a 1913 KW Coil. The points that are on the coil are the ones that Randall (RIP) Anderson had made about 10 years ago.
On the upper, top point. the cushion spring is way greater than it should be. I just checked a NOS late Ford script coil point, and that setting is .009 .
I'm thinking of gently smacking the rivet...

I sent two of those otherwise great shape coils to someone in the mid-west to rebuild.

When I asked about them two years later, I was told they needed new points and none were available.

Evidently there are still no points available!

When I restored my Model N, I used the original Heinze coils. They all needed new points. I think RV may made...

Been working on a project that is both rare and not much known (intimately) by most of the Model T world (with the exception of a few).

The 1909 Water Pump Engine! The first 2500 or so cars had this configuration which changed somewhere around 1911, to Thermosyphon )which the drawing I have shows), I have...

Here's my work in progress....still need to add the springs, retainers and pins....but the more I look at this and the further I go, I am starting to see that I'm going to have to add a few things I hadn't planed on (cross sections of a valve line....the relationship of the valve to guide position in block, to spring, retainer, pin,...
