I had never heard of a Horch. Where was it made? Where would you find spare or replacement parts? It is a beautiful car.

A favored car of the German political/military elite during the Third Reich period.
Look at period parade/event photos.
More people are doing it today than ever before !

This car was a staff car used by Dr Werner Best not a nice guy by any means as for parts ebay Germany works for common stuff , otherwise you make it . This car was about 90 percent there most of what is missing is brackets and mounts which I have made but are hidden and will not be seen until it is taken apart again. The real nice ground up restorations the cars go for 600,000.00 euro's this one will be 400,000.00. This car is an 853 with an overhead cam straight 8 120 HP

Beautiful automobile Collin!
IF I may: "Audi is the Latin translation of horch, from the German verb "horchen", which means "listen!" (compare English "hark")."
For correct pronunciation of Horch. I knew already. :) Not Larry Storch but the baby-bringing Stork. ;)
This automobile looks so much nicer in color! Wow.
Thank you so much for showing us!

Thanks for the linguistics lesson! I love linguistics. I should have taken Latin many years ago, but in the infinitely dismal wisdom of Califunny education, they quit offering it in schools just before I entered high school. I never sought much "formal" education after that, preferring to self teach rather than attend formal indoctrination schools (I did attend local college part time for a couple years, and couldn't believe much of what they tried to "teach" me).

Horch has an interesting history, and built some really impressive cars! Sometimes it is difficult to separate the histories of something from the times in which they existed. But history is important. And remembering the good as well as the bad from the era time and place is also important. Auto Union came very close to dominating international automobile racing in the '30s. And if Mercedes was second to ANYBODY in that part of the world for quality and prestige during the '30s? It might have been Horch.

Beautiful and interesting car!

Before building his own cars Mr Horch worked for Mercedes My thinking is that is why the 2 brand are so much alike , you have to look closely to tell them apart . I did not know The Audi ,Horch thing , he was not allowed to use the Horch name after the war for some reason That is a clever way to stick it to the man.

Ya, me too Wayne. I did go with the last French class offered here as a chaperone. Too much to type about that on this fantastic thread. :)
