FJ - Replacing the wood floor in an enclosed trailer
I usually buy a new custom built enclosed car hauler trailer every 2 of 3 years.
But COVID-19 has created a shortage of labor & materials resulting in a delay for new trailer construction.
So I decided to replace the wood floor in my 35 foot custom enclosed car hauler.
I could not do this without help and I am fortunate to have made some good friends over the years traveling.
So here we go .....
First the wood on the side walls had to be removed.
My good friend Mark who is a skilled carpenter did
that because we wanted to use those pieces for patterns.
The existing floor is 3/4 inch plywood.
I have my trailers built with floor - sidewall - roof
cross members on 12 inch centers.
I started installing etrac about every 4 feet width wise
Several years ago surface mounted on the wood floor.
As I started pulling up the old floor - I had to remove
the 1/4 inch bolts - fender washers - lock washers
so I could re-use the etrac.

Replacing the wood floor in an enclosed trailer
So I took up six sheets of plywood but left the front six or so feet alone - it was in good shape.
Mark cleaned it with some degreaser
Mark cleaned up the fender well boxes.
We are painting them.
Just about ready for the new plywood

Are you saying the floors had "gone bad" ? How so ?
More people are doing it today than ever before !

I requested the floor be screwed down to every cross member - it wasnβt - many screws had missed the mark.
Gas - oil - fluid stains had gathered over time.

We cleaned & repainted the cross members as we installed the new floor.
Then Mark put new sidewall wood up.

Several years ago I combined the four piece aluminum ramp set to make two long ramps.
I thought about storing those underneath by having brackets built - Jerry came out to take a look.
It was decided to break down the ramps to four pieces
and build some brackets to attach them to the sidewalls.
Jerry designed some and installed them on Monday.

Pretty nice Jim! Now you will have to wipe up those oil drips. They wont soak in before you stop.

I get by with a little help from my friends
I couldnβt have done this without the help of Mark Atkins and Jerry Kramer of Richmond, Indiana
Just like I couldnβt or wouldnβt want to go down the road

Re: FJ - Replacing the wood floor in an enclosed trailer
When mounting the xtrack or Etrack to the floor, there probably some holes that are not lining up with a frame rail,so do you put a backing plate under the trailer floor to spread the burden of pull or how does it look under the trailer as to how the track is mounted? Just curious as I have the new brake kit and such for my trailer and Xtrak is my next money to spend
If you can't help em, don't hinder em'
