Finders Keepers ?

Post by Dallas Landers » Tue Sep 08, 2020 5:39 pm

Kelly came in the house with the Shepherd and said we have a problem! She said a calf is coming down the road. Nothing new when you live in farm country but this one was newborn today. Chord still soft and dangly. Yup, right down the center of the road. I went toward it fearing it would run into the corn field. Not a chance, it ran right to me bawling. Picked it up and put it in the dog kennel until I can licate the owner. Kelly said finder keeper, joking of course. She was the bottle and bucket feeder when we raised calves. Once they were on dry feed, they belong to me. She had fun with this one untill she left for work.

Well I found the owner. Calf had been penned up 10 minutes before his escape. He got a ride home and didnt have to walk the 1/2 mile home.

So it wasn't a keeper after all. If it was it would have been a Fall keeper. I had some Spring keepers.

Sounds like it was fun while it lasted.

Ya, made her day Rich. All the neighbors livestock comes to our place when they get out. I guess they figure life is good here. My horse turned 35 in April.

Excellent! Errant calves even!
Or as my sisters and I called them cairfains.
Beautiful Holstein calf!
Little farts! :)
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated

A few years ago these four escaped. We followed them slowly to their neighbors place.
