This beast showed up at our local "Trunk or Treat" yesterday. Of the cars shown (mostly late 50's to new) I have to say this was my favorite. Not currently driving, it's in "conceptual" stage. Frame and engine from a fire truck, axles from a Greyhound bus, cab is from a Diamond T truck. Photo doesn't do it justice !! G

That sort of thing is getting entirely out of hand. I thought this one was a bit radical until I met the kid who was building it. His Grampa had a junkyard and was letting the kid run wild in it. The youngster had great enthusiasm and was all over my Bus so he had some instincts that I thought were good.

This was at an Air show in Powell, WY. A parade followed it but the kid didn't participate as his vehicle lacked brakes. I believe if it weren't for the car interest he would have become a hooligan. I'll bet the guy with the Monster Truck was really interesting too.
Bottom line, isn't it great to go to these events and see wild new things?
Rich
When did I do that?

I think it's what happens when these kids are over-exposed to an over abundance of amazing junk. The brothers who are building this particular abomination are the sons of the feller who established a metal recycling concern locally a few years back.

I wouldn't have sought to participate, but I'm glad I did. The kids voted for their favorite car, and Lizzie came in second, three votes behind. They gave the winner a prize, which I felt more than gratified for losing, because I wouldnt have wanted to have to haul it home. It was a stainless sheet cutout in the shape of an old highway sign with a bad rendering of a Model A hotrod and the inscription "hotrod highway". A lovely gesture, but not my thing. Returning now to grumpy old hermit mode !

 How true, Dallas. The kids assured me refining the design calls for raising the cab a little on the frame, reconfiguring the diesel injection system and shortening the radiator. Maybe they'll be able to see where they're going then.

Rich, as long as they have fun and keeps them from trouble. Kind of Mad Max but it will hone their skills.

After decades of nauseating billet, this rust and grease is a welcome
change. Not my cup of meat, but I'll take it any day over the perfection
and polish look.
More people are doing it today than ever before !

My tastes neither but with two people in the cab (like an old prairie tractor) to look on both sides of the engine, vroom on. :)
Very interesting!
Dang. The notion of a camera...

Keep it simple and keep a good junk pile if you want to invent something :P
