Took a ride today
Talk about history, I had a blast. Crawling through the two tunnels to get up front and back over the bomb bay was challenging. Like crawling in my roadster! You think our model T’s creak and groan, you ought to hear these!

Way to go, man. When I come into a few hundred million and start my warbird collection my first plane will be a B-25.

Re: Took a ride today
Some guys remember when Model T's were $5. I had a friend back in the 70's who bought two B-25's for about $5k each. Of course he spent lots of $$ getting and keeping them flying. I have fond memories of many hours in the right seat going to airshows around the Great Lakes region with one long trip to Langley AFB in Virginia. One of the B-25's is now owned and flown by the Yankee Air Force based in the old Ford hangar at Willow Run Airport. The other is in a museum in California.
You can purchase flights from the YAF in the B-25, a B-17, C-47 and I understand soon a Ford Trimotor. For those near SE Michigan or visiting the OCF it might be worth considering.

Re: Took a ride today
My Dad was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in WW2. I get a little misty when I see one of these, but it's harder to contain my emotions when I hear the deep resonant roar of the engines under load in a steep climb.

My Dad was a test pilot who flew the B-25’s
as they were readied to be turned over to
the military.
It was a dangerous job with a high fatality rate.

Re: Took a ride today
I got pretty misty after I was seated and they fired the engines. I told them I had some dust in my eyes.
I love this stuff.

Re: Took a ride today
My Uncle, who I had mentioned in another thread, was an airplane mechanic in the Air Corps in the south Pacific, made this while sheltered during air raids and sent it to his sister. (My Mother)

I love trench art. I have a few pieces I picked up over the years. It’s nice you have a piece from a family member. My wife draws the line with lamps though!
