its a tree rim spreader but wondering what kind of rim and what era?

Hey nice ad! I’ve looked before but never found anything. I found this tool in the woods around an old foundation of a shed my grandfather built years ago. Looks like T rims?

Many other cars had split rims. There were even different sizes, so if you see one for sale, be sure it will fit your T. One type, however, can break your leg! I once had a 1930 Franklin and it actually had a rim with a lock ring on the outer edge, and you better have all the air out of the tire before you try to open it.

Those are the split rims Iam familiar with. A lot of older lowboy equipment trailers had them. We always wrap a chain around them and bolt it together. Just in case it goes it all stays together. Very dangerous. I believe they have outlawed the sale of that style rim anymore.
