Wishing a reflective holiday weekend
We live in an old factory building and when we bought it years ago, a neighbor told us that a friend of his from school worked there as his first job through high school. He was drafted right out of high school and killed in Vietnam 5 months later. We honor him with his picture and share his story. Sgt. Lauren Heydinger, son of the local barber. KIA during the Tet offensive. May he Rest In Peace.

To my thinking, Memorial Day is not the same as the Fourth of July. They are connected, but not the same.

Memorial Day is in honor of those who served and didn't come home, Veterans' Day is in honor of those who served and did come home, and Armed Forces Day is in honor of those serving. The 4th of July celebrates the anniversary of the United States' independence.
