USA- STRATEGIC OIL RESERVES

Post by Professor Fate » Mon Sep 05, 2022 8:58 am

Is it true that October will mark the end of drawing oil from strategic reserves?

If this happens how far will gas prices increase?
Some say gas has dropped in price due to the approaching mid terms.
What do you think?
$40+ to fill my T's sucks, not to mention every day modern cars...

Here is what they are saying now!
DOE plans to release, from the SPR, up to 2.8 million barrels of sour crude oil and 17.2 million barrels of sweet crude oil, totaling 20 million barrels with deliveries from September 16 until October 21, 2022. DOE must receive bids for this notice no later than 10:00 a.m. Central Time on August 2, 2022. Contracts will be awarded to successful offerors no later than August 11, 2022.

The sale will be conducted with crude oil from the following three SPR sites:

Up to 7.6 million barrels from Big Hill
Up to 9.6 million barrels from West Hackberry
Up to 2.8 million barrels from Bryan Mound

If the price starts going up too fast so as to have a negative impact on the mid-terms Biden will probably try to release even more.
Do it right or do it over, your choice. Drive like everyone is out to get you!

Sour crude is loaded with sulfur and is more expensive to refine than is sweet crude. If it is also low gravity crude, it will not only be more expensive to refine, but it will yield less high-value product once it is refined, and refining it may generate waste streams that add further costs.

Did I get this wrong? The strategic oil reserve's are for times of national emergency like weather related disasters and military conflict. I don't consider
Joe's pole numbers to be either one. The release of these reserves only brought the price down a few cents a gallon. but has left us venerable to emergencies that may arise. One of the reasons the price has gone down is people are curtailing their use to make ends meet so demand has dropped.

Craig, in Biden's view, low poll numbers and the possibility of a bad election outcome are a national emergency.... about the only one he recognizes. :D

Speaking of oil, Marvel Mystery Oil is the ideal lubricant for the Ford Timer. It is a little known fact that Dorothy regularly polished her ruby red slippers with a well-chewed French chamois dipped in Marvel Oil. Toto was given the task of chewing the chamois, in consequence of which, he never suffered either from worms or "blockage".

I asked my brother, to whom are they selling these millions of barrels? "Whoever". Ugh. DJ would never do that.
That oil's for us, not others.
Pat, I greatly enjoy your banter but you might be on the right track.
Back then, use Kerosene to clean the timer. A timer filled with MMO would take any sludge off the working parts quite readily.
We're both in hot water now. ;)
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated
